I thought Assassin's creed, Search button: the game, and Super mario: sunshine were great. My brother liked Superman 64.
GOD HAND It was panned by critics and sold poorly and in part led to the closing of Clover studios, but man is it ever an awesome game. You can tell that it barely cleared alpha, the levels are bare and the graphics are not great, but what you do have is a game with an amazing fighting system and a lot of attention to detail where combos and motion captured moves are concerned. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC2MvIC4j6E
People say it sucks but i fuckin' love Assassins creed. I also enjoyed Army of Two, The Godfather Game,The Movies and True Crime New York City.
I 100% agree with you with SuperMario Sunshine, tis infact one of my faverate games of all time!
Oh! Spore too. | |
Killer 7 | |
Final Fantasy IX. It's like, the least-loved Final Fantasy I've ever seen. Nobody I know enjoyed it, but they enjoyed the confusing and mechanically-alien FF8, and most folks I know tout FF7 as the god of all Final Fantasies. 9 wasn't critically hated, but it sold worse than either predecessor. I enjoyed 9. Its environment, its world, its mechanics, its art and design, and its characters. I've played it about five times fully, with two "master saves." Don't look at me like that. I lost my memory card.
One word: Psychonauts. It was one of the most underrated games on the Xbox. I loved every second of that game, even though I was basically collecting a lot of stuff. The game was so unique in its look and solid in its gameplay. It had some of the best levels in any platform game. The Milk Man Conspiracy is still one of the best things to ever be put into a game to date. "I work on the roads, see my stop sign?"
Body Harvest for the N64. 'Nuff said.
Really? True Crime: Streets of LA was a nice twist on the GTA clone genre, despite all its shotcomings, but I felt that the sequel pushed all of its shortcomings further. More glitched, more obviously rushed, and there were way less random crime variety.
The original SaGa Frontier, it was NOT critically lauded, it was not well recieved by consumers... I just loved it for some reason.
Kane & Lynch : Dead Men. | |
Most everyone I've met seem to be under the impression that Def Jam Vendetta and it's sequel, Fight for New York, sucked. As a dyed-in-the-wool fighting game aficionado, I whole-heatedly believe that that they didn't. In fact, they're two of my favorite fighting games. FFNY features one of the most fascinating, diversified combat systems I've ever come across.
Absolutly. The fighting in that game is a hell of a lot of fun, especially some of the roulette moves. Also, I really enjoyed Freedom Fighters, back on the ol' PS2, and I've no idea if it was panned, but none of my gamer friends seem to know about it.
Chrono Trigger for Nintendo. And Assassin's Creed is for the win, but who said it was bad?
Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure I love this game so much (and Yahtzee apparently likes it too)
Chrono Trigger is not an underrated game. It's one of the best games on the SNES and very popular actually.
Oh my god, I have too many to count. The force unleashed, viking battle for asgard, assassins creed, the new pop, pop 3: tth, spider man web of shadows, kingdom hearts, mirrors edge, and many, many more. For the record, I count underrated as my friends and forumers who have played it saying its bad.
Vexx, turok, FFIX | |
Psychonaughts was underrated? I remember that game having stellar reviews across the board; it wasn't that it was underrated, it was that no one bought it because it was different.
Buggs Bunny Lost in Time
FFIX is freaking awesome. Nice to see a non-broody Japanese protagonist. Also, I really enjoy Guitar Hero: World Tour. It's not as good as Rock Band 2, but I still enjoy it, damn it!
Never figured. Like I said, I got a lot of "What?"s...
Psychonauts didn't sell very well and was underrated a bit. It should have gotten better scores than it got.
Wrong. Project: Snowblind was one of the most underratted games on the xbox, even if it felt a little Japanese (but mostly good old english)
As do I. Took a while to get into, but I did and I'm glad for it. Really should finish it at some point.
I enjoyed Vexx as well. It didn't do anything majorly original, but what it did was pretty damned good. I find that I'll enjoy a great deal that isn't highly rated. I enjoyed the Farscape game, Pariah, Tron 2.0, the latest Leisure Suit Larry, Aiken's Artifact, the Ankh series (and pretty much any adventure game, for that matter), the latest Broken Sword, the Postal series, Unreal 2 and god knows how many kids movie tie-ins.
OBJECTION! | |
Homeworld. No one remembers the sudden freight train of emotion that hits you at the beginning of mission 3...
Psychonauts and...Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak. ...
Jericho I thought was way underrated for the PC. Its cheesey good and the graphics are pretty nice.
Rugby 08, my favourite sport game and I've seen it mentioned hardly anywhere on the internet. It's got loads of replay value and good core gameplay, it's a shame they only come out every World Cup.
FF XI very underrated MMO just VERY hard
It's not underrated, it's justly bashed and jeered. It's a bad game in every aspect excep the storytelling, which is more in depth than usual for an MMO.
Eternal Darkness for gamecube
Arx Fatalis | |

I play video games. I know what you're thinking. Wooptee fuckin' do, you play games. Well I am one of a select few who play video games because other people think they're bad. Except games about movies. They actually suck. And I've been surprised to find that most people are wrong. No surprise there. I have enjoyed several games that television idols and our own Yahtzee tore to pieces. I would like to know if there is anyone else that feels this way, or that you're all a bunch of slack jawed gits who do what people you've never met tell you to do because they posted it on the internet.
