Sure he is big and scary at first...but when you realize that you can just wail on him till he kills you respawn ten feet away and continue bludgeoning him till he kills you and then...well you get the picture...I think that the artillery on Red Orchestra is cringe worthy. You are making a desperate charge at the allied lines when suddenly *whistle* *boom!* you are hurled twenty feet in the air and land with a sudden thud... |

Besides I whacked one to death by freezing it and hitting it with a wrench constantly it kind of lost it's fear factor after you get decent weapons so that is near Fort Frolic. My vote goes to the tank why because on expert unless you team works together the tank usually means your fucked and big daddy only killed me once when I played for the first time. |

So little time to time those jumps perfectly, it was good for inducing a little panic. And he would devour one in a blink. Just instant, creeping, roaring, almighty death hunting you through unstable environments. S'nice. |

Actually, pretty much just the entirety of Godhand kinda makes you die inside I think some other frustrating/difficult fights would be: Determined Dirna from Valkyrie Profile 2 |

The Dahaka is one thing I can unanimously say Warrior Within did right. I'm not going to start a WW discussion here, and I didn't care for the game overall, but the Dahaka - pure gold. |

Paperboy Posts: 34 Joined: 3 Jan 2009 | The Colossus of Rhodes - God of War II...2nd best boss fight ever. Review what you just did after finishing the boss fight and you are just like "Holy sh*t, did I do that?" Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts 1 + 2, Dissidia Final Fantasy - Just for being hardcore Argorok - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - My mouth was dropped down even longer than it was in The Dark Knight when the Joker did "The Disappearing Pencil Trick" Spider Splicer - Bioshock - I almost pissed my pants during that opening cutscene...Johnny NOOOOO! And their voice is very creepy. The Bird - Ninja Gaiden (NES) - Tears... endless amounts of tears from repeatedly getting knocked off the edge...
People should really stop using GoW for Gears of War because God of War kind of got there first...by a year and a half |

It's basically a phase fight, but the AI is amazing: it adapts just a bit to make your life miserable. User was banned for: TIME Makes Everybody Lose "The Game". (Permanent) |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 793 Joined: 12 Feb 2008 | The Tank is really on scary on Expert mode.. because it has so much damn HP and one shots people who are on green health.. plus on some levels you have to fight two of them.. i remember playing it with a friend, act 3 of no Mercy. Both the other players where dead and we where both in bad shape coming out of the sewer, we reach the street and my mate throws his pipe bomb to draw of the swarm only to see a Tank smashing through the swarm towards us. I believe i said something to the effect of "Oh come on, give us a ****ing break" But the Tanks are really on scary on expert mode.. on all the other modes they just have few too HP. My vote is gonna go to Doc. Salvador |

You had to kill it as a hobbit and I kept dieing when I attacked it with my walking stick to I just sat and threw rocks at it for a really long time... Oh, and the Malcolm in the final campaign fight in Unreal Tournament 2004. |

Yeah, I think the spirit of this thread isn't really boss encounters, more just really annoying baddies that cause mass death
Metroids in EVERY metroid game would certainly qualify
