Just incase any you guys have been living under a rock, this is what I'm talking about.

Anyway, Tim Shafter has created many incredible games none of which (or very few, correct me if im wrong) have been a commercial hit. Nearly very Tim Shafter game is a cult classic, it gains a small, very devoted following. But it never sells that well.

Personally, I think its because there not advertised well and there nearly always really wierd concepts that you wouldn't expect in a game.

Now, we have Brutal Legend. If think this game, no matter how bad it turns out to be (which I seriously doubt it will be) will do a hell of a lot better. Few reasons.

-Its produced by EA. That means a hell lot of money behind, and that means a hell lot of advertising.

-When you look at comments on the videos you notice that (not only do all these guys need to be locked up) but theres one message that keeps repeating itself over and over again. "God of War+ Heavy Metal=Awesome" "Wow, its God of war with rock, sick!" "Haha, funny, looks like God of War". Gamers go with what they know. This concept isn't nearly as out there as a game set in limbo, and a game about a camp for psyics.

-Jack Black. Not much else to say.

Do you guys agree? Or do you think this game will, once again, just recieve "cult" status and sell about 100 copys.

I agree. I can't wait for this game to come out. I've been looking forward to it for a long time. I really hope that it does well.

Don't forget what happened to Stranger's Wrath. Published by EA, had some of the highest ratings from game magazines that year, based on a famously established series... it tanked...

I'm buying it just for the fact that you can melt demons faces with a guitar!

Given the track record of Tim Schafer's games, I'd say it'll be great, but sell like expensive leprosy injections

Well, it depends. If we can get every gaming personality to talk about it at the same time (like they should have frigging been doing with LittleBigPlanet since the day it came out) it will raise the public awareness to a level where it can actually sell because "the man on the internet said so".

Well duh, I already bought 1 million copies for both platforms, AND pirated those copies about half-a-million times. I keep the economy going motherfucker!

I'm guessing slightly below average sales on this one somewhere on par with Mirrors Edge.

This is what I'm thinking. I don't think this game will do super well, but it will at least sell more than Grim Fandango and Psyconauts.
