What was the point of your post? To belittle RPG players? |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 576 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | I'dve known had it been a Final Fantasy. Those are pretty easy to figure out. Also, sirdanrhodes, just assume that I've insulted you in some way for your comment. I'll leave the specifics up to you. You know, because that comment was entirely useless. |

Not exactly, it was more of if it wasn't RPG, I'd have a idea, and loosing faith in humanity, that was a OTT joke! I mean, I have no faith in humanity. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 576 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | Nope, I've got Legend of Dragoon. This was definitely an earlyish PS2 release. I do remember that we stopped playing it once FFX came out, if that helps narrow down the timeframe. |

Legend of Dragoon was a PSX game. ... |

Dark Cloud doesn't have turn based combat, so that's eliminated. I thought of Dark Cloud at first as well. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1653 Joined: 2 Nov 2008 | Sorry, can't help you. I do sympathize though, I have a few old animes that I dearly wish to watch again but couldn't remember the names if you put a gun to my head q_q edit: The giant red creature seems kind of familiar though... Can you be a bit more descriptive? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1207 Joined: 17 Oct 2008 | I thought dark cloud first, and breath of fire sounds right, it was ps1 but released in '01 in the PAL parts of the world |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1166 Joined: 23 Jul 2008 | It sounds like any generic PS2 RPG. Try all of them! |
Anonymous Source Posts: 1 Joined: 3 Jan 2009 | Is it Legaia 2? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legaia_2:_Duel_Saga I think during the game you turn into a red fire kind of thing. I have played it before and it sounds like your description. |

Well then that means it's not a FF game, because FFX was the first one out on PS2. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 576 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | That doesn't look like it. It had a lot of outdoor environments. Really well rendered for the times, if I recall correctly. You morphed, and then did almost strictly physical attacks, I think. It was a timed effect, and then wore off. This is so frustrating. I don't think there was a menu system for fighting the way there is in FF style games, but rather buttons to either cast magic or do physical attacks. I really don't remember a menu system in the fighting. The characters were rendered to more normal proportions in game, too. There weren't any giant headed creatures walking around on the screen. Also, combat was in the environment as you explored; no separate battle as in FFanything. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2863 Joined: 14 Jun 2008 | Do remember ANY of the characters names? If you knew even two, you could easily find it. This hardly fits any of the criterias but does Chaos Legion ring a bell? |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 576 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | I wish. We're talking about a game we played (it was single player) for a month or two back in 2002. Ok, that means it could have come out in early 2002, nothing later than May, though. Which is less than helpful, since it expands the options. Crap on a crap cracker, cause you need crap crackers when you're eating crap. Damn. |

Was Orphen turn based? I seriously remember hating that game... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2019 Joined: 25 Jun 2008 | Swords & Sorcery? So it not set in the early 20th century in the 'real' world. If it was, it could be Shadow Hearts? Was the turn based combat based around a ring (Judgement Ring)? |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1521 Joined: 5 Jul 2008 | Suikoden III and Gradia II are the only games that come to mind that are both PS2 games and have come out in that time period. Then there's Breath of Fire IV, but that's a PSX game. Furthermore, it's 2D. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 933 Joined: 27 Apr 2008 | Here's a link to an IGN search for RPGs on the PS2. I had a quick look through but nothing seemed to match what you've said. You should have a look yourself, see if anything rings a bell. EDIT: Found this listed as an Action RPG. You can change into several monsters, including a big red minotaur. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1116 Joined: 9 Feb 2008 | Shadow Hearts? Came out in 01, turn based JRPG , the main character could transform into various monsters, I'm sure at least one of which was red although I haen't played it for a long time. Google it and see if you recognise it. Good, unique game with a more involving battle system than is the norm for games of its kind. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 576 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | Ok, Legend of Alon D'ar actually rings a bell. The screen shots are iffy, but I'm also remembering them from close to seven years ago. And, I just went and looked on YouTube, and that's pretty much it. In fact, I'm almost entirely certain that that's what it was. Thanks for filling that memory gap; it's bugged me off and on for a year or two now. And inside of three hours. I'm impressed. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 87 Joined: 9 Dec 2007 | What a fun game! Anyone else have a game they're looking for? Edit: By which I mean that it was fun looking for the answer, and I am bored. Summoner was NOT a fun game if I remember correctly. |

No, he said it wasn't menu heavy and I don't think the main characters of both those games cant transform. besides, wasn't the first released in 03? |
BANNED Posts: 552 Joined: 9 Dec 2008 | Hah. Let's make a game out of this. You'll never get this one. 'The monster within me has been released. I have traversed worlds, only to learn that I am a child's memory. I have died and walked across the sun. I have spoken to God and asked him:'Why?' I have fought His Infinite Machine.' What game is this? User was banned for: Archie Andrews Chooses a Bride!. (Permanent) |

Could it be Infinite Machine for the XBox? |

I'm trying to track down a game I played years ago for PS2. The only problem is that I don't remember the title. Yeah, not helpful, I know.
It came out in 2000 or 2001.
It was an RPG.
It had turn based combat.
It had 3rd person perspective.
It was a swords and sorcery type of game.
One of the characters, a little way into the game, could morph into a giant red creature.
There was a party system.
Sorry, but I don't remember much more than that. I clicked through the wikipedia entry on PS2 games from 2000-2002, but didn't see anything that rang a bell. Thanks in advance for your help.
