What I wanna know is what parts of what games have moved or really affected people to the point where they almost shed a big soppy tear...

1. Corridor at the end of Silent Hill 2.
2. Each Colossus, maybe except the bull one that really goes for you.

Yoshimo's death and last request in Baldur's Gate II. He was one of my finest party members, and I had grown to like him. He was the only guy who really seemed to be trying to get along with EVERYONE. Also, the Defence of the Palace in Mechwarrior 4:Vengeance. I was truly immersed in that intro movie, and I felt I truly respected those pilots as they died under a vastly superior force.

without giving too much away... I made the righteous choice at the end of fable 2 and therefore never went back to the game after as it was no longer as fun to play without certain advantages you lose when taking this option.

sorry so vague just dont wanna spoil it for anyone...

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=aJvYZXUT5Bk << Homeworld really did it for me, hit the right emotional notes. Even Cataclysm had its moments, but Homeworld was the most memorable.

I also really agonised over the Fable 2 ending. I chose the needs of the few in the end; I just loved my dog.

I've honestly never been affected by games in an emotional way. For instance, when Seph killed Aeris in FFVII, I was too busy marvelling at how cool he was to really give a shit. Plus I thought Aeris was a crappy and annoying character.

Conquers Bad Fur Day - The final clip seriously has to be the funniest and saddest ending I have ever seen!

Super Metroid - Loss of my Metroid friend still gets me. Damn that Mother Brain!

When Auron died in FFX, that was pretty moving.

The first time I ever saw the OoT credits roll was emotional for me, yet I found the freeze frame 'The End' screen a bit of a cockbite!

Let's see. Chrono Cross is definately a game rife with moving moments, given that you take the time to put your mind in the situation. Gears of War 2 actually had some moments, like

Ah, I really have to disagree with the Gears deaths, the first is now just becoming a running joke that was somewhat amusing but not upsetting. The middle one was probably the worst of them all but still, not wholly devastating. The latter though, I just didn't care. It was reasonably well done but you're only just introduced and my friend and I (We were both playing it through co-op) found it just, well harder to relate to I guess but again didn't really care and looked upon it was a state of apathy.

Edit: That does sound rather callous in hindsight and I'm not the most emotionally robust character, I guess games just don't phase me as much.

I'm with you on the Gears deaths. I've heard it said that people connected with Delta Squad, I did not. I thought the writing in Gears was pretty poor. Fun game, but I was enduring the dialog not enjoying it.

In fact I was much more effected when

in Saints Row 2 then when in Gears 2.

As for my favourites, they have already been mentioned so I'll go with a lesser moment that effected me recently.

I was playing Fallout 3, I fast travel to the location closest to the place I'm going and load up to a battle between super mutants and giant rad scorpions. I kill all the monsters and start looting only to notice a human body. I recognise the armour and my fears are confrimed when I find my cursor over the headless corpse of Donovan of Reilly's Rangers. After all the effort I went to to save that guy and he goes and gets himself killed out in the wasteland. It bummed me out.

Jesus, Fallout is full of those moments... the cry for help radio signal from the family was heartbreaking. Also, I found Gog to be a very tragic character.

Yet strangely... the twist moment in the main plotline (where a certain sacrifice is made by a character close to you) I felt was very poorly handled and didn't move me half as much as it should have.

The two favourites so far, Call of Duty 4s Nuke 'Survival' and Half Life 2 Episode 2s ending are the ones that really stand out for me.

Even though this may inspire much hate but the ending of Final Fantasy 9 got me all those years ago. Also Half-life 2 Episode 2 was a moment for me.

Mine would have to be Nanaki learning the truth about his father Seto in FF7. Such a well done scene. Especially he howls up at his fathers statue/body and you see little tears stream down from it. D'awww :)
Also, the Nuke in COD4 gets an honourable mention. The fact that they all went back to get those guys despite knowing what'd happen to them was very moving.

Right at the beginning of the World of Ruin in FF6, where

, was by far the most stunning moment I've ever experienced in a game.

The aftermath of that scene is pretty intense as well.

The end of Conkers Bad Furday

Never felt more emotionally moved then that, Dom and Marias relationship in GOW2 is weak in comparison.

number one for me has to be the 1000 years of dreams in lost odyssey. Although im not sure, seeing as they are story's but they are still amazing. If not that, then id say the part when they find kaims dieing daughter. im not saying its a very good game specially not the latter of the 4 disks but the first 2 were pretty moving i guess.
No other games moved me reli other than HL2 ep 2 ending.

After adventuring to save the world, watching Maxim and Selan die. ='(

That made me cry as a kid! I still love Lufia 2, though.

Frank Bilders: We're as thick as thieves, you and I.
(emerging from behind)Qarbani Singh: Just kill him.
Frank Bilders: Sorry mate, nothin' personal.

(real life)Me: FUCKING SON OF A MOTHERFUCKING BITCH!

One of the few moments in Far Cry 2 that provoked such a strong response. Goddamit Frank. I loved you.

One of the main games that made me feel emotional was Okami

Such as the first time you purify a gardian sapling and the entire area blooms in bursts of color and music, I was actually filled with joy the first few times I did this

When I killed Zelos in Tales of Symphonia, I hated that a lot! I was like wtf I don't want Kratos if I have to kill Zelos!

edit: By the way this is pretty hard to do unless you get everything right(or wrong depending on ones type of view)and its not a spoiler because I did not say how to get it or why it happens

Not to put too fine a point on it for those who haven't played it, but the half an hours worth of twists towards the end of Bioshock wrenched my guts. Also, your first mission for Atlas, saving his family, is an effective and harrowing scene.

A special note to accidentally restarting the harvester in Prey has to go in, I felt so bad I had to reload back about half an hour...

Close to the end of Okami when Issun begins spreading the word about Amaterasu. The hope of the people makes Amaterasu strong enough to defeat Yami.
The big twist in Metroid Fusion when you learn who the computer really is.
The final scene in MGS4 when Snake meets Big Boss.

The Brotherhood mission that ends with the Boss putting one of his Lt.s out of his misery, my little brother acts alot like that Lt. so he was crying pretty hard.

During the battle at the Unblessed Village in Infinite Undiscovery, I probably would have felt worse if I didn't find the main character to be even harder to like than Vaan in FF12

The end of Fallout 3. My little brother (10) was wet-eyed as my character took his final breaths and I was pretty touched as well.

Resistance205:
In Mass Effect when you have to leave someone behind

Star Wars KOTOR When you find out you're true identity

Star Wars KOTOR: The Sith Lords. When Kreia...I won't finish that.

I think there are more, i just can't think of any.

The part from KOTOR 2 would have been moving if the plot had been slightly less convoluted.
But the reveal of your identity in KOTOR was very moving for me...it was my first RPG ever, it is still one of my favorites today.

My method for measuring the "moving" moments on games is if I get the shivers...in the CoD4 Nuke Scene, KOTOR identity reveal, the end of the american campaign in CoD:WaW, and Waters of Life in Fallout 3.
EDIT: I don't care what some of you say, the ending of Fallout 3 is also up there.

Puppeteer Putin:

That was upsetting; actually Episode 2 was book-ended with upsetting moments... two members of the same family... Wow, that was depressing.

Gordon better give Alyx a hug in episode 3.

I think all the radiation he steps through has sterilized him. She's practically saying "Do me, science man" and all he can do is go "watch what I can do with this gravity gun". Dude, she's hot and she loves nerds. What's wrong with you?

This is why they made cutscenes for Mass Effect.
