Two worlds is what I first thought of when I saw this thread. Worst EVER. Also: Eternal Sonata. Well, basically every JRPG I've ever played with voices in it. But Eternal Sonata really sticks out. |

I think that is actually good voice acting as the point was to make those beggers annoying .. and they were!! after two meetings i would do anything to avoid those beggers or failing that scare them off. |

I think I remember borrowing that from a friend... was that the game with the bizarre soundless cutscenes or have I got it confused with something else? I remember the voice acting and scripting being woeful though, with characters saying "'tis" at least once a sentence. |

All we get are stereotypes of nationalities. Anime is notorious for that too: the best example is the cartoon Zero no tsukaima: the world is supposed to speak french, you can see everything "written" has more grammar faults than a 5 year old, and the main character: Louise, pronounces her own name "loui-SEUH!!!". You'd think anyone making games or cartoons must have a bit of budget to hire any linguist to double-check these things. |

Not only do I think the voices are pretty lame (female elves, female posh humans and the redneck voiced red guards sound TERRIBLE!), but the lack of voice actors combined makes it atrocious. The male voices were decent, I guess. Stereotypical Germanified-English or Russianified-English voices.. I hate them both. Just hire actors that actually SPEAK the language. Also "I said come in! Don't stand there!" and "Get out of here, Stalker!" are pretty good examples of bad voice acting. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 736 Joined: 23 Jan 2008 | It's pretty apparent from this thread that about 25% of the people here don't know what bad voice acting is. Resident Evil and Star Ocean 2 are tied for me, Resident Evil's being horrible and SO2's being annoying (though, not for me anymore, I've heard them all so much that I look forward to hearing them, haha). EDIT: Though, I've never played Two Worlds...hmm... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2768 Joined: 18 Sep 2007 | Dawn of War: Winter Assault. The voice acting in the single-player actually drove me to quit playing. Plenty of skermish and multiplayer, so I don't regret the purchase, but the single-player campaign lies incomplete and will stay so forever. (Not that the level design didn't hurt it there too.) -- Steve |

But that's what made me love that series in the first place. Dammit, I love that weird high-pitched voice of the weird bat-thing. |
Paperboy Posts: 29 Joined: 7 May 2008 | Oblivion was awful. The voice acting department blew all their budget on Captain Picard and then the story department killed him off ten minutes into the game. And there was Boromir too, as I recall. Special kudos also goes to Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for making the prince change from arrogant English aristocrat to a scummy American with throat cancer. And then there was Farah in The Two Thrones, who was equally bad. |

On the subject of Max Payne, I think I heard a few enemies shout "My spleen!" before dying. This may be because I had been playing it at around 3 am and was on the verge of falling asleep while playing. |
Paperboy Posts: 27 Joined: 28 Nov 2008 | All you need to know is this. There was a game for the PS2 called Naval OPS Commander. Ship to Ship combats games being so hard to find I went with it despite the warnings. This game contains the absolute worst voice acting ever heard. No, stop, don't think you have heard worst because if you have not played this game you have not. The female character has the stupidity to say and I quote "Lol". So bad was it that I want and to this day still wish to find the cast and strangle them. Game was ok otherwise though it got old after a while. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 829 Joined: 21 Feb 2008 | The entire Resident Evil series, that includes RE4 and I have little hope for RE5. I wanted to believe that the actors weren't really that bad, that they were doing their best with the abysmal dialogue that they were given but that's not the case. The one that always comes to mind is Claire in Resident Evil 2. The actress sounded like she may have had a shred of talent but her attempts at giving emotion to her lines made her sound bipolar. The fact that the audio in that game sounded like it had been recorded in a small tin box didn't exactly help matters either. |

My favourite part was the "evil" laugh that Goldman says when you're all trapped in that colloseum. Cracks me up. |

Yeah, I think that Oblivion would have been far more interesting had they imployed more people to diversify the voice cast and create at least a little more interest when talking to NPCs. |

Heh, well I've not played the game all of the way through so you could be right. They do say "my spleen!" in No More Heroes though. Maybe Suda has you tapped :P |
Paperboy Posts: 15 Joined: 8 Sep 2008 | ................................there, i have spent fifteen seconds of time thinking about which games to complain about and i have this to say: its a threeway tie between 'GTA:San Andreas', 'Halo 2' and last but not least; 'Samurai Warriors 2'. If i have to listen to one more "This shit's over mother fukca!" "Enemy!" or "Thats some pretty work you're doing out there." im going to mix cement with vibration absorbing foam to make a sound-proofing cement and encase my head in it. |

hahaha so true!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd rather listen to Donkeys fucking. .... and by the way, if you're going to listen to donkey's fucking, make sure there's a musical soundtrack. because if there's donkeys fucking and it's quiet.... that's perverted lol |
Copy Clerk Posts: 84 Joined: 21 Jul 2008 | How has Shadow Hearts 1 not been mentioned yet? The game was great, and most of the voice acting was just mediocre, but relatively early in the game, you meet the horror of... SEA MOTHER. WORST. VOICE. ACTING. EVER. Watch at your own risk. |

Okay, now the beggars were annoying and Altair's voice acting was terrible but some of the voice-acting was quite good. I don't think it deserves to be on the worst voice acting list just because of the beggars. And hey, they actually have some people that sound like they're from that era and area unlike the new Prince of Persia which could have been taking place in southern California for all we know from Elika and the Prince's voices. I love Dead Rising, but Frank sounded like a goof.
