I love Dead Rising, but Frank sounded like a goof.

Two Worlds from what I understand has terrible voice acting.

Was waiting for someone to do this. Two Worlds was billed as being an Oblivion killer by... well, just the developers and nobody else. Due to budget constraints, and perhaps a misconception of their own talents, they decided to voice the game themselves... bad move. Every single character interaction in the game as a result is downright hilarious.

Two worlds is what I first thought of when I saw this thread. Worst EVER.

Also: Eternal Sonata. Well, basically every JRPG I've ever played with voices in it. But Eternal Sonata really sticks out.

worst voice acting ever two worlds but most people wouldnt know this as nobody brought it

the only reason i know this is a friend thought it would be a hilarious gift. ive touched it once and only once.

Dkozza:
Fable 2 with the generic villagers. Either its constantly 'generic scream 1' or 'wow you're a hero' drilling into my brain constantly...

actually i take that back. Assassin's creed.

Just to refresh some memories for you. "NO! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE! JUST A FEW COINS PLEASE! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I HAVE NOTHING! PLEASE!"

I think that is actually good voice acting as the point was to make those beggers annoying .. and they were!! after two meetings i would do anything to avoid those beggers or failing that scare them off.

I think I remember borrowing that from a friend... was that the game with the bizarre soundless cutscenes or have I got it confused with something else? I remember the voice acting and scripting being woeful though, with characters saying "'tis" at least once a sentence.

Any game featuring a french speaker: They never have actually asked for a REAL french-speaking with a REAL french-sounding accent. All we get are stereotypes of nationalities.

Anime is notorious for that too: the best example is the cartoon Zero no tsukaima: the world is supposed to speak french, you can see everything "written" has more grammar faults than a 5 year old, and the main character: Louise, pronounces her own name "loui-SEUH!!!".

You'd think anyone making games or cartoons must have a bit of budget to hire any linguist to double-check these things.

Wow. Chaos Wars. That's bad.

Myself am not really fond of Oblivion. Not only do I think the voices are pretty lame (female elves, female posh humans and the redneck voiced red guards sound TERRIBLE!), but the lack of voice actors combined makes it atrocious. The male voices were decent, I guess.

Stereotypical Germanified-English or Russianified-English voices.. I hate them both. Just hire actors that actually SPEAK the language.

Also "I said come in! Don't stand there!" and "Get out of here, Stalker!" are pretty good examples of bad voice acting.

Far Cry 2. They never pause between words, and they sound like they just want to get every single conversation over and done with so they can go back to killing me.

Soldier Elite, with some American playing the enemy guards, trying and failing to pull a Russian accent whilst reading off his clearly scripted lines.
And in Half-Life 2, every civilian or rebel soldier you see is played by one of two people--one male voice actor and one female. The voice acting itself was exceptionally good, but the fact that a 25 year old European sounded exactly the same as 50 year old black guy kind of gets to me.

As far as video games are concerned, X-Men Legends wasn't exactly easy on the ears. Neither was the first Devil May Cry's English dub. As for cartoons, the first Vampire Hunter D movie had terrible voice acting on both sides of the globe.

It's pretty apparent from this thread that about 25% of the people here don't know what bad voice acting is.

Resident Evil and Star Ocean 2 are tied for me, Resident Evil's being horrible and SO2's being annoying (though, not for me anymore, I've heard them all so much that I look forward to hearing them, haha).

EDIT: Though, I've never played Two Worlds...hmm...

Dawn of War: Winter Assault. The voice acting in the single-player actually drove me to quit playing. Plenty of skermish and multiplayer, so I don't regret the purchase, but the single-player campaign lies incomplete and will stay so forever. (Not that the level design didn't hurt it there too.)

House of the Dead 2 has some impressive awfulness, but then the script is almost as bad as the disinterested voice acting.

Suffer like G did!

But that's what made me love that series in the first place. Dammit, I love that weird high-pitched voice of the weird bat-thing.

Oblivion was awful. The voice acting department blew all their budget on Captain Picard and then the story department killed him off ten minutes into the game. And there was Boromir too, as I recall.

Special kudos also goes to Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for making the prince change from arrogant English aristocrat to a scummy American with throat cancer. And then there was Farah in The Two Thrones, who was equally bad.

sheogorath.

it's a testament to how bad the comic acting is when the lines are funnier when you have the volume down and read the subtitles.

I mean come on, the guy who did the voice for that character should never be allowed near a recording booth again. completely ruined the shivering isles for me with his piss poor attempt at some kind of scottish/irish 'humourous' accent

I think that was deliberate as he supposed to be a creepy psychotic.
I'm definitely going for Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. "I wonder what made these webs" after I'd already killed the giant spider.

RE 1 is definately the worst for me. Anything involving laughter in FFX is painful to watch too. I have to mention max payne. The main character is fine but I absolutely cannot stand the whiney sound enemies make when they die. A really nasal "AAUUUUUUGGGGHHH :("

On the subject of Max Payne, I think I heard a few enemies shout "My spleen!" before dying. This may be because I had been playing it at around 3 am and was on the verge of falling asleep while playing.

All you need to know is this. There was a game for the PS2 called Naval OPS Commander. Ship to Ship combats games being so hard to find I went with it despite the warnings. This game contains the absolute worst voice acting ever heard. No, stop, don't think you have heard worst because if you have not played this game you have not. The female character has the stupidity to say and I quote "Lol". So bad was it that I want and to this day still wish to find the cast and strangle them.

Game was ok otherwise though it got old after a while.

The entire Resident Evil series, that includes RE4 and I have little hope for RE5. I wanted to believe that the actors weren't really that bad, that they were doing their best with the abysmal dialogue that they were given but that's not the case.

The one that always comes to mind is Claire in Resident Evil 2. The actress sounded like she may have had a shred of talent but her attempts at giving emotion to her lines made her sound bipolar. The fact that the audio in that game sounded like it had been recorded in a small tin box didn't exactly help matters either.

My favourite part was the "evil" laugh that Goldman says when you're all trapped in that colloseum. Cracks me up.

Oblivion was pretty poor in as much as it was the same 3 actors doing hundreds of voices.

Yeah, I think that Oblivion would have been far more interesting had they imployed more people to diversify the voice cast and create at least a little more interest when talking to NPCs.
Also, in KH2, alot of the characters kept saying the same thing when they were reunited with Sora and co by saying "Sora! Donald! Goofy!" Personally, it did nothing for me and made the whole script seem poorly written. Why did they feel the need to say that more than once? Even twice would have been slightly acceptable!

Far Cry 2 and the Dom from Gears, especially Gears 2! "I lost her AGAIN!!!"

Hmmm... I don't really think I've heard too bad of voice acting. I haven't played almost any of the others games listed here.

I agree with everyone about the Resident Evil 1 voices. The remake was much better.

The whiney, Japanese girl voice gets on my nerves.

Heh, well I've not played the game all of the way through so you could be right. They do say "my spleen!" in No More Heroes though. Maybe Suda has you tapped :P

................................there, i have spent fifteen seconds of time thinking about which games to complain about and i have this to say: its a threeway tie between 'GTA:San Andreas', 'Halo 2' and last but not least; 'Samurai Warriors 2'. If i have to listen to one more "This shit's over mother fukca!" "Enemy!" or "Thats some pretty work you're doing out there." im going to mix cement with vibration absorbing foam to make a sound-proofing cement and encase my head in it.

The voice acting in the original Resident Evil for the Playstation was downright atrocious. It was like having a drill bore into my head while listening to a retarded kitten trying to recite Shakespeare in french.

hahaha so true!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd rather listen to Donkeys fucking.

.... and by the way, if you're going to listen to donkey's fucking, make sure there's a musical soundtrack. because if there's donkeys fucking and it's quiet.... that's perverted lol

How has Shadow Hearts 1 not been mentioned yet? The game was great, and most of the voice acting was just mediocre, but relatively early in the game, you meet the horror of...

SEA MOTHER.

WORST.

VOICE.

ACTING.

EVER.

Watch at your own risk.

Okay, now the beggars were annoying and Altair's voice acting was terrible but some of the voice-acting was quite good. I don't think it deserves to be on the worst voice acting list just because of the beggars. And hey, they actually have some people that sound like they're from that era and area unlike the new Prince of Persia which could have been taking place in southern California for all we know from Elika and the Prince's voices.

If anyone has ever played Musashi: Samurai Legend, then you'll have witnessed quite possibly the WORST voice acting in the world. If not, look it up on youtube. It has to be heard to be truly understood, haha.
