I did a bunch of the quests around megaton then blew it sky-high. It was mighty pretty.

I did in my "evil" play through. I also shot Tenpenny for fun in that one.

But why... I mean of course shooting Tenpenny, you gain karma.

I didn't the first play through and I'm rather glad I didn't. Long before my second play through where I did nuke Megaton, I found myself thinking, "Where would I go for trading without Megaton?" Granted, there are other towns and caravans, but they are few and far between and all seperated by a vast and unforgiving wasteland.

On my second play through when I did nuke the town, I found myself regretting all the quests I had forsaken by blasting the place sky high, as well as how terribly Tenpenny Tower serves as a home and trading hub as compared to Megaton.

But the sight of that nuke was pretty amazing. Almost overwhelming.

I nuked the town on play through #2. Before I set the bomb off I killed everyone in the saloon and ran off with their stuff. They Moria was any indication, they were the lucky ones.

It was the very first mission I finished outside the vault as soon as you could do so. I then murdered the guy who gave me the mish and the old man.

Too many valuable resources. I have a place where my stuff is guaranteed not to be gone later if I leave it there, a fresh water dispenser, a bed that gets me well rested for free, and a bobblehead stand. Even though I've yet to find any bobbleheads, but when I do!

Not to mention a place to sell my junk when other vendors run out of caps. And getting 10 bottlecaps per scrap metal is better than one stimpack per 5.

I haven't nuked Megaton yet but I haven't reported Mister Burke, just in case I see a reason to later on.
However, the character I am currently playing (Gunny McGun) is something of a good guy, I can't help it! Doing evil makes me feel baaad :(

First Playthrough I kept it safe.
Second time though... let's just say Moira is pretty lonely now. "Mwahahahahahahaha"

The only thing that really stopped me was that Megaton just happened to be where I was storing all my crap that I wasn't using at the moment. I wasn't sure what would happen to my weapons/armor/food/quest turnins if I did...

There should have been an option for,"yes on my first play through and it nearly ruined the game!". don't nuke it!

Oh God, I'm out of the loop here. I had no idea what game this was and I was reading through the comments, it seemed everybody knew. So I scroll down further to see what the fuss is about, and I see Tenpenny, and I'm like "Tenpenny didn't have his own tower in San Andreas". A little further and I saw this was about Fallout 3, haha.

Anyway, if I played the game, I would TOTALLY blow stuff up. Such a great feeling to have so much power! Oh, he can save us! And that's when I sink the knife in and say, "no u".

You can report him? I just kicked his ass until he died and then stole his sunglasses.

I thought about nuking it, but I was trying to get a high karma level.

I'm a fairly average bastard in that game, but not enough to nuke a town with that adorable little child in it...

I didn't nuke it. I'm taking my first (and only, so far) playthrough slooooooooooow, so I want to have a convenient place to trade and sleep. Tenpenny Tower is just too far from everything to be of any use.

Yeah if you talk to the sherrif, Lucas Simms (or something) after speaking to Mr Burke, an option comes up to tell him about Burke's nefarious scheme.
However, according to my friend, if you do report him, Mr Burke just ends up killing the sherrif and giving you a stern warning about crossing him - this might not be true, I haven't checked into it.

I store everything at an empty locker with the O'Reilly Rangers.

It is true. although you CAN take the hit for the sheriff and kill Burke. (Which I did. on my third playthrough)
oh and to answer your question, first time through, nope.(I was a good guy that time)
second. Yes. Then I proceeded to kill everything else.(Very. VERY, bad girl.)
third nope.(Found that it was harder to sell stuff at Tenpenny towers. Mainly because it wasn't near the middle of the map, like Megaton was.)

I nuked it, though i made a point of getting the bobble head from the mayor's place and doing the few quests.
I mainly blew it up to kill one derranged mechanic. But alas she survived to annoy me for another day...

Yeah, I nuked it to see what happens, then reloaded my save point. It had cool effects, but you had to hate that damn tenpenny guy for laughing about it. I sniped his ass from his balcony later on for revenge...

AND you dont have to worry about Talon company jumping down your throat every so often on a contract kill mission.

You worry about Talon company? I see them as free walking gear ripe for the taking. Specially since I'm using the Ranger armor, and talon's armor is ever so perfect to fix my own. Made a day (and a sweet buck) out of clearing out the underground Talon company bunker thing.

On topic: I saved Megaton. Burke sounded too much like a salesman I wanted to hit/shoot... Besides, I wasn't done exploring the city. Next time I might though.

I nuked it 2nd playthrough... I completed the Wasteland Survivor Guide and a couple of other things... oh yeah, I did personally murder everyone in Megaton before I set the bomb off.

Ahhh, good times :)

I seriously thought about it, but at the time, it was the easiest place to sell stuff and heal myself. I was also in the middle of the Survivor Guide quest. Next time though... Next time.

U can still complete it because Moira Brown becomes a ghoul in Underworld after.

Funny thing is I nuked the place only to get rid of Moira, I liked the other people.

I was a prick on my first playthrough. I killed everyone and everything I could. Nuked metaton, let all the ghouls into tenpenny towers then shotgunned them after as well. I just slaughtered everything I could. However that kinda backfired when I had nowhere safe to rest and replenish.

I did not nuke Megaton, because that was back when I was trying to play a good character, before I realized that everything I stole cost me karma.

I didn't nuke Megaton. Why? Well...

First of all, it's a nicer place to live. I can't think of living in Tenpenny Tower because the only person that I can STAND is Herbert Dashwood. Plus, it'd take longer to get into my room, and if I wanted to help Roy Philips gank the place - which I did - I'd have to give up my humble abode.

Second, Megaton is a pretty central location, and fun to hang around. It has a phony-balony religion like the one in Beneath the Planet of the Apes, an eccentric shop-owner who may as well BE Kaylee from Firefly, and a faux Irishman that runs a tavern.

Third, Wasteland Survival Guide sidequests. True, you can get these whether you bomb the place or not, but I like having my source of dangerous fun to be located where I live, along with the ammo, the easy repairs, and where the trade route is as well.

Fourth, I like it when Three Dog sings my praises. He's just cool that way and all.

I nuked it AFTER I did every quest in it. I coulda gotten a house though I suppose since almost all the beds in the nuked world seem to tell my character not to sleep in them because it isn't "theirs" despite that I'm the biggest cleptomaniac ever in those games.
