Okay, so my last post didn't go over so well. Who cares? What I want to know this time is: what do you think is one of the biggest gaming cliches? In my opinion: Either red ones go faster, or the double jump.

Italians are apparently concerned with one of two things; honor or pasta...... oh wait that one would apply anywhere, um......that it never pays to drive like a sane person, in any game.

The dam clitches in most of the call of duty games online, getting killed and watching the kill cam to ee someone under the map picking your bits of isnt as fun as it sounds.

I'm not sure if this counts as a cliche' for gaming or just fictional writing in general but, how come in the post-apocalypse world where theres no more civilization or industry and yet somehow there is an abundance of firearms and ammunition everywhere? There's more bullets and guns then there are food and water and while I'm on the subject, how come in most games your character can go for days without food or rest? You would have died of starvation or exhaustion or dehydration before you'd die from bullets and bombs.

If theres one cliche' developers need to grow out of it's that one. They started to a little bit with titles like Bioshock (although it's hard to believe year old potato chips are still edible, but what the hell twinkies can survive a nuclear holocaust, so why not?). I guess what I want is games that don't have these cliche's anymore.

When I get tired of gaming cliches, I try to start living my life again. That said, once you have started looking at your life, you can simply realize that you was better of playing video games XD

If you ever find new awesome weapon and a good amount of ammo, save. There is a boss around that corner.

And all guards are inept beyond belief.

If it takes place in Eastern Europe, the Middle East or the United States; there would be more bullets than food.

Shooting games always including guns.

...but seriously, I'd have to say games where you can destroy buildings and the like, but trees are completely invulnerable to everything.

That when he hit space, we're necessarily even close to a dominant lifeform. Personally, I'd like to feel like the small fish in a big pond for a bit. Also, a slave rebellion might be fun.

For some reason, it takes about 20 bullets to kill me, but only about 3 to kill another generic soldier in the singleplayer campaign.

Seriously, is it so much to ask for a sword weilding grandma hero. Is it!?

That got me thinking. The one main hero being a male and any other female who not old, Ugly, Missing body parts, Or all three wanting you hop in his pants. Even then said females might too.

If you find yourself in pain, hid under a desk and suck your thumb and you'll get better.
Also, In any rpg you can inevitably revive anything that's dead. Unless it was killed in a cutscene.

RTS style, Currency will always be molded into enough resources to pump out tanks that are half the size of their factory.
Everyone is perfectly OK with you rifling through their house looking for anything remotely valuable.
The strongest weapon will always be kept under lock and key and require some ridiculous task be carried out before you get your hands on it.
The princess always gets captured, always.
If you're playing an RPG and you have to do something on a small scale, it will inadvertently change the face of the world.

I guess we're pretty screwed if the bad guys decided to build fortified log cabins and wooden body armor.

EDIT: I got another one, it's when the main character (fallout 3 for example) can carry dozens of miniguns, rocketlaunchers, and any other number of weapons and the ammo, but only moves slowly when wielding the big gun. Once it's on his back however, he speeds up.

Non-central characters will tell you the same piece of information over and over, in exactly the same phrasing, everytime you ask, without getting annoyed in the slightest.

Also, the RPG hero usually has no idea what's going on, so the player can learn while he's whining at everyone to explain things endlessly.

In FPS games - Grenades that bounce all over the place, weapons that have unacceptable recoil and mines that insta-kill you no matter what you do.

In RTS games - Unbalanced factions.

In RPG's - Black magic. Why isn't there more White magic instead?

If there is a rumour of any sort, be it "the king is acting mighty funny", "I hear that the super-rare ancient wolves who haven't been seen in recent memory have been spotted again", or even passing mention of pretty much anything apart from the speaker's personal life (and even then...), it will be at the very least relevant to the plot, and very often will be entirely accurate. The only exception is when said rumours regard some band of evil adventurers wreaking havoc throughout the land. These adventurers will be you, and the rumours will exist only to reinforce how skilled the villain is at propaganda.

How about the hero always being some mundane character who somehow kicks the arse of an entire branch of the military without breaking a sweat. A military whom always follow clearly illegal orders that would have a real soldier questioning the brass's sanity or going AWOL to the nearest federal beuro the first chance they get. Not to mention the murderous glee these marines always seem to have, which has to leave you wondering if being a complete psycho is part of the recruiting requirements these days.

FPS- You can hold a gratuitous amount of amuniton and grenades in your pockets/armour but you can't find the space to cram a backup pistol or first aid kit in somewhere.

RTS- You literally can put a price on a man's life.

RPG- You're the big hero! You're so cool you could (and basically will be forced to) save the world, everyone's counting on you! (no pressure though)

Survival horror- %40 of all locked doors in the world can be opened by answering a simple riddle (the other %60 require a key that can only be aquired by answering a simple riddle).
