At least with a Firefly game there's a whole wide universe, and we know that the Serenity isn't the only ship out there having adventures. But Buffy's sorta a one-girl (with a little help from her friends) fight on evil. |

Much like how in Age of Conan, everyone is "the chosen one"? The powers that be must have accidentally hit "Select All" when sending out that message. |

The only problem, of course, is that we'd all have to be ladies ;) As for the actual MMO in the works? Low expectations all around. |

You may want to have a change of undies handy then. |

Somewhat on that note, is it just me or has there been a recent steak of MMOs that are "in the works" that no one really has high expectations for? |

Too bad they've been in the works forever, and considering that it was announced in 2006 and now 2009 has rolled around and pretty much nothing else has been said about it (or at least from a quick google search). People are estimating 2011 or 2012. And even then I hope they stick with oWoD and not nWoD. Also, I'm really hoping it isn't in the same vein that EVE is, I personally didn't like that play style at all. |

As far as the setting goes though, the series finale took the show in an entirely new direction, one the comic books have continued. I certainly agree that you couldnt have a buffy mmo in say, season four, but it really opens up after the show ends. And there is a pretty large fan base already in place which an mmo needs. not sure how they plan on getting around the "everyone is a girl factor" though. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1302 Joined: 19 Dec 2008 | Dropping Firefly for Buffy is a sound business move since it's likely that Buffy has a much larger fanbase. While Firefly is an awesome show, it's still something of a cult phenomenon. But dropping Firefly for Buffy is a terrible thing from any other angle and will likely result in an inferior game. Also, in that article they mention the game being playable as a 3D game or as a 2D flash based game, and the two versions will be able to interact. To that I can only say: W T F ? Unless the 2D mode is only for stuff like browsing the Auction House and chatting with the guildies, I can't see how this could possibly work out in ANY semi-serious MMO. |

I don't really read the comics, or continue watching 'Angel', I just watch those seven seasons every once in a while. But an MMO? Hell no. It would just spoil it. the link to the article is right here, sorry if it doesnt come up. Personally I think this would be really cool, I liked the xbox games and the finalle of the show left it really open to an mmorpg kind of game.
anybody else interested or will I be slaying virtual vampires alone?
