I'm not excited because I have plenty other fighting games. I still have Street Fighter 3 for the Dreamcast and I downloaded SFHD remix.

Do you have any links or sources for this? I've looked into building my own wireless arcade box, but haven't seen any good looking arcade-style controller for 360

http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&resnum=0&q=xbox+360+arcade+controller&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title

This is just a quick search and it's got one of the more popular third party arcade controller, but it's non-wireless.

Where I said Microsoft are going to make offically a decent big arade controller (not the small one that has normal Xbox360 buttons, and not the big aracde ones), infact I heard from a indepent videogame store owner today that they are going to be doing this, and they will have a limited edition (I think) big controller that has two players on it.

The game is going to be a lot of fun, even though I suck at Street Fighter. Its just a lot of fun to play with friends.

Im pumped for SF4. I got the special edition preordered at gamestop (So i can get the headband). Is anyone else excited?

Of course! Let's get it on. My friends and I still crack open the SNES to play SFII:Turbo. I play as Vega who looks super sweet in the faux 3D graphics.

My friend, who is a hater, doesn't want the different graphical style but he hated the Transformers movie and it's been on his PSP since it came out. He's a one.

Hellz Yeah! I still bust it out on the Genisis! (I dont have a SNES!)

I was excited, then I played a copy of Street Fighter 2 and decided against buying 4.

Can't wait. Preorderd w/Amazon for PS3. Also can't wait for the new, KOF, (an actually) new Guilty Gear, and (hopefully) new K.I.

I'm stoked, but I'll probably wait until the price drops or just get it through GameFly (cheaper either way). But yeah, it's gonna be awesome.

No. There's not been a decent fighting game since Street Fighter 2 Turbo, this won't change that. You've played 1 beat 'em up you've played them all.

And you know I'm right.

Only you're wrong.

Well I know I'm right, so that's all that matters. But yeah, it's a tired old genre isn't it? When you figure out that you can beat pretty much most of the beat 'em ups today with only the (and I'm sorry, I'm going to have to paraphrase Yahtzee, I know that's a taboo but hell I don't care....) throw button and maybe 1 or 2 3-hit combos with ANY character, the whole genre needs a revamp, doesn't it? Why bother going to the trouble of learning an intricate 50 hit combo when you can just as easily throw Ryu down to the ground and kick him in the ghoulies and take off half his health with only 2 button presses? 80% of the moves in these games (Tekken, SF, Soul Calibur etc) are unnecessary, they're just for showing off.

OK, I've not played a SF game since SF: Alpha but hell, I'm going to go out on an ignorant limb and say I bet they haven't changed much.

So, uh, not only aren't you getting the game genre correctly (fighting games and beat 'em ups are two different genres, though they share the same roots), you basically admit that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Well no, actually they're not different genres. Clue's in the name. Well to defend myself against your idea that I have no clue what I'm talking about, here's a video of Ryu vs Ken in SF4. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z76WCGgtiY

Wow, it looks idential to every fight between the same characters in SF 2 Turbo. I guess I do have a clue about what I'm talking about :)

They are different genres, though. Same reason why Mario 64 isn't an adventure game even though it contains elements of it.

But I guess these look identical to every fight in SF 2 Turbo to you as well:

I'll admit after googling beat 'em ups that I had the wrong end of the stick all these years. I''m more than happy to admit when I'm wrong :)

So the video, right. After all these years of playing SF and Capcom spewing out new variations, all they've really done is chuck in a couple of new characters and added a little bar at the bottom to do a big special move? And even then, that was added in Alpha back in 1996! Capcom are lucky my opinion carries no weight because I'm on to them.

I played Street fighter EX 2 plus until the skin on my thumbs was worn down almost every other night for weeks at one stange, untill i figued out you would wrap sellotape around the controller and play for longer, and then played it every day for weeks.

God i loved that game, and im really looking forward to 4, but i just cant see myself buying it, i just wont have the cash and nothing more important to spend it on. :-(

Not just "a couple new characters", almost the whole cast in SF3 has had a rehaul. Although admittedly, SF4 is a lot closer to SF2 (since apparently the change in the third game was too much for people).

Techs, parries and throw escapes are no small additions to the game, though, as they (especially parries) add a whole new element of risk especially on higher levels of play. If your opponent repeats the same combo over and over, you can easily punish them for it. That basically eliminates the whole fireball spam that SF2 can easily devolve into.

I heard they are making a "normal" one (arcade stick) a bigger one and an even biger one ( not sure if its two p. but that would be one awsome way to get that hot nerd girl closer to you;) ).

I think I will get excuted when I see the final product, but not untill then because games can look great on screen then be a big bust (GTA PC). I also think that the high exectations are either going to be really good or realy bad publicity for SF4.

P.S. YAY!!!! MY FIRST POST!!!

Nowhere near as excited as I am for Tekken 6! I'm only buying 1 fighting game this year, and I've always liked Tekken more.

I'm inclined to agree. SF 2 Turbo was amazing. It's still one of the top 2 games I've ever played. So when Super SF2 came out, I was stoked. Then I played it once. The very first time I played, I used Fei Long and figured out a 5-hit combo that did 80% health damage to my opponent AND they came up in stars. So I tossed them and killed them. That's it. If I land one hit, I win the game. That was not fun. I haven't played another SF 2 sequel since then.

I still love SF 2 and SF 2 Turbo. I'll give SF 4 a shot, just because in the video I saw, it WAS Ken vs. Ryu in old-school SF 2 Turbo style. Yeah, there was a combo or two, but they did very little damage. So I'm excited, but very wary. But hey, this is the first fighting game in a decade that has actually managed to catch my interest. I've played a few others; unfortunately they suck.

I'm extremely excited for it. I had the opportunity to play the arcade version at MAGFest last weekend, and I have to say, I was absolutely blown away. The character animation, the layers of depth, the tight controls... Awesome.

That said, I have to agree with the sentiment that it feels very similar to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, specifically on a higher speed setting. Aside from the very retro character roster, the way the game handles feels very much like a step back towards the basics of Street Fighter, yet somehow new as well; it's not quite as technical and controlled as Street Fighter III is, but there are instances that seem to mirror III's occasionally over-the-top moments. It's definitely more in the vein of II than it is of III, this being a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view.

The way I see it, you play one Street Fighter game and you've played them all. The franchise was good, but not after releasing the same game repeatedly for however long it's been.
I'd rather spend a fraction of the money on an earlier version, rather than full price for a slightly different version with different suits for the characters...
