Paperboy Posts: 20 Joined: 3 Nov 2007 | So I recently got the newest spider man: Web of shadows after several months of Gleeful anticipation... I had been Looking forward to playing this game for a while. Since I saw the Behind the scenes look at how they had hoped to approach the combat and web swinging. Now the very few people who did know anything about it only really said things like "Too Short" or "!@#$ing camera Angles!" One friend went as far as to say that the target system belongs in hell.
To be honest I love the concept of Sideman a lot. At least the comic book, old school animation one... The only ones to exist to me and if anyone mentions toby Mc-failure Pants, your dead to me too, darn it.
For many weeks now I had hoped Yahtzee would get a crack at it and evan if it didn't warm the "Dried Rotten apple of cynicism that is his heart" as he says, Maybe it would At least tickle him something fierce. I will have to agree that the game is very short, Maybe eight hours depending on sure will and the determination of what you plan to accomplish. Having just beaten it a second time just moments ago having bought it two days ago... It is not a dificult Game!! Now don't get me wrong it was entertaining being good and having a real CBS moment when you stop gangs from fighting, one lame Fat joke after the next at Fisk, or Breaking Wolverine! Did I mention that you beat the stupid out of him on two occasions? The second of which choosing evil as my second play threw was all about. Led me to Break him in At least two pieces, needless to say he was a Lil upset.
--- Spoiler Alert -- In the end having things come down to two things: If you had been good and nice the majority of the game, you self narrate and Take off swinging with marry Jane when she catches you in narration. If you had been Naughty Most of the game you infect Black cat, take control of the entirety of the symbiots while meanwhile Black Widow brings Wolverine Out to hunt you down!! (I guess Humpty Dumpy Can be put back together again, huh?)
--- Beep Beep Beep, Thank you for that service announcement. ---
Anyways, I can't say the camera angles were "Sonic bad" but not exactly Fantastic ether. There were times when I had a target locked but trying to move around and the camera would shoot Right up in to the air or straight down at my feet and would springboard back and forth while I sat there finicking with the controller to unlock. The Combat is very enjoyable with a very satisfying feeling when you go from one enemy to the next. However while the target system wasn't evil, sometimes it was unforgiving when you have one targeted and it chooses the one closest to it (this happened a lot to me during the final Sequence) Did I mention that after every boss fight there are quick time events!? -20 Points!
Anyways, im typing this up to see what impressions of the game everyone had.
Did you like it? why or why not? What was your favorite Parts? Would you get another One if they made it? (obviously not if you said no to liking it) |

I shall reply to Both Topics above!
First I would like to say that Quick Time events can be fun Depending on the situation. However, when you are trying to enjoy a Really entertaining Cut Scene and you can't because you have to peel an eye for when the dumb quick Time event comes about... Needless to say it ruins it a Lil for me. Evan if the game allows for the sequence to be done again and again and again until you ether complete it or turn the game off. Secondly I had no intention of making this a review as opposed to an open topic discussion about the game in general. I felt that Gaming Discussion was the best choice to accomplish that.
Have Ether of you had the opportunity to play it? |

Chances are i will play it again, but i can't stand Mary Jane so i will choose Black Cat again.
Still doesn't answer any of my questions though...
Did you like it? why or why not? What was your favorite(Edit for clarity) or least favorite Parts? Would you get another One if they made it? (obviously not if you said no to Did you like it) |

The gameplay was fun, but got old. Maybe if I'd taken the time to master the combo system, but honestly I just found myself using the same three combos for most of the game. The visuals weren't bad. The storyline was okay but the pacing was way off and voice acting was so bad that I had to mute it at times. Spiderman was worse in this than he was in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and that's saying quite a lot.
I wouldn't play it again (I rented), but I would probably check out a sequel (also via rental) because I'm a sucker for Spidey titles.

Dilly Enough I was satisfied with this voice actor for spider man. Granted he sounded just a little Young and seemed to switch too randomly between Good spidey and Deeper Voice Evil Spidey with no real smooth transaction. I will say the idea that they used Eddie Brock for Venom and not some god awful Choice like they did in the evan MORE god awful movies. As Far as game play goes, I tried to mix it up myself, Evan Though A lot of it could of been done with just one attack over and over and over again. I have the playstation one so Pushing triangle to web zip to an enemy, then triangle again to move to the next. Chances are I will return it Though and get something else in a day or two. |
