I repeat. A game doesn't need a plot to be good. In fact, in a lot of games, the fact that the game has a shitty plot might actually detract from the actual game. I mean, seriously, the plot is actually the worst part in most JRPGs that aren't Xenogears or FF Tactics. Bangai-O Spirits is an awesome game without a plot. Tetris is one. Lumines is one. Crayon Physics is one. Dwarf Fortress is yet another. I mean, hell, most multiplayer games don't have plots and that doesn't stop them from being fun.
A plot shouldn't be a prequisite for a game. Ever. That's basically like saying every game should be in first person, an extremely silly idea. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1013 Joined: 8 Jan 2009 | Al X and Ur: the reason i hate sports games is that everytime i see a sports game, it isnt any different from last years model, the story plot is, "your team wins!!!" and instead of kids actually going out and playing sports, they stay inside and watch a tv play sports. i love video games based on the fact that they can take you to do things and worlds and make you in a sense experience something new. i even like rpg games that have ridiculously long and repeatitve fight sequences if they offer to me a unique story line and original concepts. but i cant get this from sports games, racing games, or any other game that takes you through the same crap you can do at anytime without a console. what do you think?
