2008 was one of the biggest years in gaming; Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Army of Two, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4 and loads more of highly-anticipated titles have come and gone. But now, looking ahead, there's not much to wait for in 2009. I can think of only three games off the top of my head: Prototype, Brutal Legend, and Lord of The Rings: Conquest. Other then that, it seems like 2009's gonna be a pretty empty year for gaming. Do any of you guys know any games coming out this year that look like they're worth it?

Give it time, there might be some secret projects primed for release.

There probably isn't going to be any games that I really want this year apart from Street Fighter IV and Final Fantasy XIII.

I'll probably just buy a few RPGs that I missed about 2 years ago and have been meaning to buy for quite a while now.

PS3 owners have Infamous and Killzone 2... I also have hopes for "I Am Alive", even though I know nothing about it.

There are lots of good games released every year.

The ones people look forward to the most are usually the most disappointing anyway (*cough* Fable 2 *cough*).

Seriously, we still saw few releases in the summer of 2008, and all the titles came around the Holiday Season.

Pay attention to history, especially the history that you're a part of! We said the same thing in 2007!

For me, there's Blood Bowl, Halo Wars, Brutal Legend, Halo 3: ODST right off the top of my head, plus the Fallout 3 DLC. Maybe Mass Effect 2 but it doesn't have an announced release date so that's probably not on for this year. (Not that I'd be disappointed if Bioware decided to surprise me.) I have a nagging feeling I'm forgetting some others.

If I had a beefier PC I'd also be interested in Dawn of War 2, Starcraft 2, and maybe Diablo 3... but that's not in the budget.

Also, the Wii is looking surprisingly tempting this year. Adventure and role-playing game palooza.

Killzone 2 will take up alot of my time. It will be the year for the playstation 3.

OP you picked a weird selection of games to make your point, especially since RB and GH will be coming out every year almost untill the end of time.

K2, FF, Fat princess will do me just fine, especially since i have a huge collection of games i need to play at some point already

I've only really been looking at the exclusives recently but there are a couple of really good multi-platform games that will absolutely rock. But bear in mind there are a couple more I haven't mentioned out of laziness.

There is no way that game is coming out in 09, no way. My guess for ME2 would be Q1 or Q2 2010.

Oh yeah, Bioware's Dragon Age is coming out this year too. I almost completely had forgotten about it.

Prototype and FFXIII seem to be my top picks for this year. I think im going to stay away from getting stuff this year and let the releases pile up so I have an awesome 2010. In the meantime 2d RPGS.

BTW, Skate 2 does look good, ill probably play the demo.

Brutal Legends, and that's about it. I wasn't really expecting much from '08 in the beginning though, and look what it churned out!

Resident evil 5 sounds good, and I'll second LOTR Conquest. Also, a game called Dante's inferno is coming out. Apparently it took a few liberties with the book, but since the book was one of my favorites, I will probably check it out.
Also, final fantasy 13, but it looks like it could be an major failure, so I'll wait on that one.
