I think 2009 will be a good year for the PS3 - but I also think there is a lot that Microsoft is keeping in reserve merely because they can afford to.

Like? Lets think here - who would they get them from? Their third party support is dieing off as fast as Sonys, and all their internal studios are busy. And that a major game will be started, announced and then released in less than 12 months... doesn't sound that realistic.

Dawn of War 2 and Dragon Age. This year is going to be orgasmic for PC Gaming.

2008 was one of the biggest years in gaming; Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Army of Two, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4

2008 was a horrible year for gaming. On your list above you list two sequel games that were exactly the same as previous releases, 4 sequels that amount to watered down innovation of the franchise (here's a chainsaw, here's a dog), one poor game (which you apparently liked, totally fair, but it doesn't make 2008 a good year) and one sequel that represents a solid game-type that we've seen from Bethseda before.

2008 was a shallow follow up to 2007. After Orange box that surprised me quite a bit. 2009 looks like nothing but sequels, and I will bet 2010 offers much of the same, industry is all about sequels right now (eyes roll, this is one of those stupid game industry trends being driven by people who don't actually play video games and it pisses me off to no discernible end)

But [Prototype] is coming out very soon and trust me, it is totally awesome... but I can't talk about it, expect a review the day of release.

Bullshit.

God Of War III is coming out in 2009. This trumps every single one of 2008's releases in pure awesome.

What he said, and then some!!!!

I'm hoping for at least one good RPG. Maybe Star Ocean will be great.

But until I find it, I'll be crying, watching "Heavy Rain" trailers, and hating myself for not getting a PS3.

2008 was that good? I kind of saw it as the year of the boring sequels... There were some decent games, but not much in the way of stirring up some genuine excitement or anticipation, at least for me. Meanwhile the Wii's got a half-dozen titles announced that look promising, some cool new DS games are being put together and there are some sweet games on the horizon for the PS3 that ditch the sepia-tone school of relistic game design and actually look interesting enough for me to actually buy the dang thing...

I've got big hopes for a new year of RPGs, Brawlers, and genuine horror games, that's for sure.

Star Craft 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Kill Zone 2, Resident Evil 5, Dragon Age: Origins, and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. How on earth can this be dry. Because if this is dry show me a good season.

Do any of you guys know any games coming out this year that look like they're worth it?

Get a PS3. It's got a load of great games coming out this year.

If you've already got a PS3 then what are you on about?
