Just saying there's a lot of Halo hate here for some reason. I just think it's strange that opinions have drastically changed about such a popular franchise. I am not calling them cowards. Someone did mention the Halo sucks argument a few quotes ago. |

She was actually in the space marine corps. at one point (before any of the games), but then left to go freelance. I guess you could call her a space mercenary. |

It just seems to be something of an arbitary definition. If I have to be picky for only specifically titled marines in space to count, then it would have to go to either Sgt. Johnson or any of the myriad of badasses in the Adeptus Astartes. If I was allowed to be less picky, then I'd probably go with Commander Shepard in Mass Effect, or indeed the Master Chief. |

When she travels on the Sulako with the Space Marines she is working for Weyland Yutani Coporation as a consultant to the Space Marines who are part of the colonial military force. Burke is working for Weyland Yutani also and is the company's representative that owns the atmosphere processing plant. So, No. Ripley is not a Space Marine.... but is harder than all of them! |

People keep saying this. And while i understand the theory behind it i really cannot see how a woman dumped into a shit-hole of a situation is more impressive than the 40K marines, who have chainsaw-swords. The sentiment is nice, but there's character and then there's marine-ness. |
