Technically Ciaphas Cain isn't a Space Marine either (He's a Commisar) But I still count him. Only for being the greatest character in 40K (And the closest thing we have to a... Choatic GOOD hero) |
Muckraker Posts: 234 Joined: 16 Jul 2008 | I'll go with Cypher from WH40K I'd give honorable mentions to Marneus Calgar, Lord Dante and Mephiston |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1113 Joined: 19 May 2008 | It would have to be someone from WH40K. I don't think there were any space marines before the Imperium, so the Emperor was probably never one himself. So... Horus? A close second is generic space marine guy from Starcraft. He knows he's doomed, but he follows your insane orders anyway. What a stand-up guy. |

Not only did he single handed kill 3 entire chapters in the drop pod massacre he also killed two of the primarchs and then freaking emperors children killed him, the jerk. He also killed a space dragon but that's just icing to the cake. |

Why would that pick be flamed. He actually is a space marine. |
Muckraker Posts: 323 Joined: 18 Mar 2008 | Ragnar Blackmane of the Space Wolves deserves a mention, for many reasons. Chief among them a piece of fiction from the 2nd edition Space Wolves Codex where he runs up to a Tyranid Carnifex with a frag grenade in his hand, shoves his whole fist into the things' mouth leaving the grenade in there, kicks off from the things' chest and does a backflip away from it while it has its' lungs blown out of its' back by the blast. |

I guess you're right, but she fits the profile of a space marine. Futuristic suit, laser weapon, that sort of thing. That's good enough for me. |

BANNED Posts: 3535 Joined: 11 Oct 2008 | So people are actually choosing a small black man with a moustache over The Emperor as the greatest space marine? Seriously guys? I know it's your favourite but it's definitely not the greatest. What did Mr.Johnson do? And to anyone saying he isn't a space marine: 1) Big suit-o-armour. 2) Combat in space. Can't beat those Gauntlets of Ultramar can you? I'm with UltraJoe, either him or Dante (from the Blood Angels)- that Inferno gun kick some serious behind. |

Samus Aran is an unaffiliated bounty hunter - at best a soldier of fortune. Assuming the military ranks transfer from modern day into the Mass Effect universe, Shepard is actually Navy (Commander is rank 0-5, Army/Navy/Marine rank is Lt. Colonel) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1306 Joined: 20 Nov 2008 | Samus may be a bounty hunter, but she seems to work exclusively for the Galactic Federation, is dispatched on landing missions from GF ships, and supports GF marines. i'd say she counts as a paramilitary.
Sera's a colony, so it's likely the COGs are marines too. the COLE TRAIN kicks far more locust ass though. |

I'll say Master Chief, but the MC from the German version of the original Halo for the PC. The German voice actor actually makes the MC sound like a real soldier, not a copped-up, George Thorogood-sounding, badass, space cowboy who spews ice-cold one-liners every time he gets a close-up on his nonexistent face. So there. *win* |
