This is BLASPHEMY! Where's Blizzard? Or Nexon?

edit: Nexon's a money grubbing troll of a company, the EA of Asia if I might say so myself. However, I think they're too big to ignore anyway. My vote goes to Blizzard!

axia777:
Yah, no Blizzard? Star Dock? There is a lot to be desired about that list!

I 3rd the choice of Blizzard

Edit: 4th I mean
2: 5th
3rd: 6th Christ I need to start reading through these.....

For me, it's a tossup between Valve and Bungie. I love Valve's devotion to it's fanbase, and Bungie has always been great about bonus content and the like.

I'm not criticizing your opinion, I'm just curious- In recent years, has Bungie released anything other than the Halo series? I'm asking because I honestly don't know.

Valve is great, and I just love Bethesda's games.

Where's Blizzard? Take Two? Westwood? This poll is fail.

Firaxis, Remedy and Relic are the greated developers ever.

Developers, developers, developers, developers.

A while ago I'd have said Nintendo. Too many classics for their own good. Now I'm leaning towards Konami, almost purely for Castlevania and MGS.

I voted valve. They're one of the few developers that haven't disappointed yet, and they respect their origins.

Nothing that I know of off the top of my head, but it's not the variety I admire. If anything, it's that dedication to one game that they know hundreds of thousands play that make me admire them more.

Epic, since there games make me want to cry at the details, they made the best games ever.
Gears of War and Unreal Tournament.

I voted Valve, but only because Capcom isn't there. (megaman, resident evil, devil may cry, street fighter, etc.) I fucking <3 Capcom. regardless that they milk their products, I buy them anyway

Bioware and Relic are currently at the top of my list. KOTOR, Mass Effect, Homeworld, and Company of Heroes. Whats not to love?

The poll on this message board cannot accommodate enough choices, it seems.

  • My favorite game developer would probably be Irrational Games, now 2K Boston/Australia - not on the poll. Ken Levine knows how to make a good game, we saw this in Freedom Force, System Shock 2, and BioShock.
  • Second favorite, probably Cryptic Studios - partly the ones under NCSoft behind City of Heroes, but also the ones still separate and making Champions Online.
  • Third favorite, probably Lionhead, Peter Molyneux's studio. In a "bless him, he's trying" sort of way. (I enjoyed Fable 1 (and probably 2) but not so much Black and White 1/2.)
  • Fourth favorite, probably Disney Interactive Studios because they currently have Warren Spector and Jesse Schell, two of my favorite game designers. I'd rank em higher, but I haven't played enough of their games from this studio.
  • Fifth favorite, probably Grasshopper Manufacture. Again, I haven't played enough of their games, but these are the guys that made No More Heroes and Contact.

I prefer studios which try to think outside the box and provide some new game experiences. So, yeah, take your mainstream clone-maker choices and shove them. ;)

The only one on that list that half-impresses me is Bioware - sure, their stories play more or less the same, but Mass Effect was an outstanding tour de force: a space/planet/ground game is an incredibly daring endeavor in today's game market, and they not only did it but pulled it off as a great cinematic experience and an outstanding success.

VALVe

/thread

Funny you should say /thread because amazingly over half the people that have voted disagree with you! That's a shocker.
On that note, I would say epic, but their bitches when it comes to DLC, what with the costs. But I'm chalking that up to MS more than them.
I'm going with Bungie because of the fanbase connection and lovely DLC.

Its between Insomniac, West Wood, Ubisoft and E.A Sports (shock and horror) for me.

Valve I have to say. I've never been dissapointed in any of their offerings. Ion Storm published two of my favorite games (Deus Ex, Anachronox) and as icing on the cake also published the best geek gag gift ever (Daikatana I purchased a dozen copies for 50 bucks and handed them out to my geek friends as fruitcake - to my knowledge I'm the only one to crack the box and play the game out of all of us)

Honorable Mention goes to Epic because they produced the engines that have run some of my favorite games.

Westwood would have taken it for me, but I didn't count them since they no longer exist. I still play all their C&C games and Nox though, great games.

Squaresoft here.

Nintendo and Konami close behind though.

Valve for making sweet games that always are awesome.
BioWare for making Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
StarDock for being so damn cool about DRM and making games for their costumers.
Double Fine for creative awesomeness.

The list is long and cannot be effectively shown on the poll.

Hmm... You know, I'd be tempted to switch my vote to Squaresoft, but only if it were differentiated from Square Enix.
