Infamous Scribbler Posts: 622 Joined: 8 Dec 2008 | My 360 died (not RRoD, the other hardware failure) about a week ago. I had had it for less than six months. I don't know if it's an epidemic, don't 360s die all the time? I hear stories about people who have had 6 different ones so far, or received one that broke down again three days after it got repaired... I don't know, is it really getting worse since NXE? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2901 Joined: 3 Jan 2008 | Get a PC, same games and it's guaranteed to not die on you. also superior control on all the games that MATTER. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1096 Joined: 6 Oct 2008 | Doesn't really matter if it does die, they just send you a new one for free. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 591 Joined: 24 Jul 2008 | Get out! Get out now and trade it in for a new one then leg it from the shop. Or just send it off. But having it for two years without it breaking is impressive. I got mine in early 2006 and I'm on my 4th one now. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 514 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | I have had mine over 2 years now I think, and I have still never had a problem with it. I don't play on it that often though, and it is an Elite, though from what I've read it's typically the normal 360's breaking down, I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about a broken Elite. |

This. I don't know if anyone's noticed yet, but 360's are spectacularly badly made. |

I don't get it, the 360's 'Exclusive' line up are mostly on the PC, the PC is inherently better for FPS games and most other games, the controller for a 360 can be used on a computer anyway. You don't have to deal with the Live community online with the computer, and it's good for 3 years maximum before being outdated (According to textbook studies) Not to mention a computer can emulate PS2,1,SNES,NES,GBA, and other console games (if you own the disks or the games are long since out of print of course) I'm not a specific PC gamer but even I know where my money is better spent.
I haven't even played the game let alone to PC version so I can't give a comment. |

lol i'll give you that, and GTA 4 IMO, but generally games are alot better on PC |
BANNED Posts: 1336 Joined: 21 May 2008 | To quote Arnold: "Stop whining." The 360 is the most popular console on the market. OF COURSE it's going to have a higher failure number because there are MORE consoles. It probably fails just as much as PS3s or WIIs. It's just like teenage drivers: People accuse them of having the most car accidents. It's true, more teenagers have car accidents than any other type of driver. But the thing they don't realize is that teenagers DRIVE THE MOST. Therefore they confuse accident RATES with NUMBERS. This is why you have more people saying "My Xbox failed". Because they are more of them. My 360 never failed. My friend's 360 never failed. My friend's friend's 360 never failed. K? K. User was banned for: TIME Makes Everybody Lose "The Game". (Permanent) |

No actually it DOES fail more than any Wii or PS3. this isn't slander, it's fact, cold hard facts aren't wrong. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 831 Joined: 3 Jun 2008 | Yup, i had my360 for 2 years, and just before Christmas, it died. And that was it. I have tried to fix it but stil, i got it working for about 2 minutes, but then it just went again. Now that i think of it, it could have something to do with the xbox update...I don't see why they would make an update that could screw up consoles though....But on the other hand it is Microsoft! |

You can never be sure of "facts". Where do you get your sources? A poll? That can't be accurate because chances are 70% of them will only have an Xbox. And alot of people lie on polls because they are retarded fanboys. No, to have clear, concise test results, you'd have to take 100s of each console and wear them down, and have a number of consoles as a control and the whole frigging scientific process. Ya got nothing. User was banned for: TIME Makes Everybody Lose "The Game". (Permanent) |

Mine never died either, and I've had mine since they were released. |
Muckraker Posts: 275 Joined: 8 Jun 2008 | But yea on topic, this goes against console fanboys (I'm not saying your one) arguments. One of the biggest arguments I've heard is cost. Sure, the PC might be initially, but between paying for your internet twice (Live), games, and buying 4(my friends on his 6th) of them because they broke down plus a ps3, the cost is way higher then my one PC which runs crysis on full for around 900, and I've had it for about 5 years now and I don't see it breaking down anytime soon, sure it might need some upgradees in the near future, but if you look in the right places, you should be able to find them pretty cheap. Oh and Steam>XBL IMHO, more streamlined and rarely shits itself like live does, plus barely any annoyingasfuck kids who can't shut up, and there's a nifty mute button for that, oh one more thing, Internet. |

Moot point. If a game is ported well for the PC than it will be better on it than on its console ugly sister. You're bitching at a poor port not the platform. User was banned for: FUN FORUM GAME THX FO PLAYIN :3. (Permanent) |

Beat Writer Posts: 190 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | Right, let me clear things up. I have a Wii, or rather my brother has one, but I didn't buy any games, as there are none I want. I got a 360 because I used to be a PC gamer, but every. Single. One. Died. And therefore I moved. Also, I can't really aford a new gaming PC, or aford to update it. This is becasuse I do not earn my own income, as I am still at school. The small amounts of money I make by being a part-time technical assisstant at school in the holidays buys me a game, or LEGO, or lots of sweeties. I just wanted to know if it was the new hardware, so I could shout at Microsoft. Please stop slagging off other consoles, I don't want to start a flame war. So stop. NOW. Everyone has different reasons for owning what they own. Given the time and money. I would use a PC. But as they always, always fail it would depress me. I really don't careif you think I'm some sort of retarded fanboy. I have given my reasons. Now, back to my original point. DO NOT TURN THIS THREAD (about the 360s hardware and trying to find a pattern, if there is one) INTO A BLOODY FLAME WAR. |

I did and the Wii has more consoles out in the wild than the 360 or the PS3, and even then the difference between the PS3 and the 360 is only about eight million or so. It's not very large at all. |

You definitely did not read my post. Housewives won`t go start a flame war on the internet if their wii broke down, nor will they answer online polls, nor will 8 year olds. See where I'm getting at? Do I have to explain it again? User was banned for: TIME Makes Everybody Lose "The Game". (Permanent) |
Copy Clerk Posts: 73 Joined: 7 Jan 2009 | I had a problem with two 360's both had the same problem, they'd turn on fine, the menu's worked fine, basically everything worked except it wouldn't play any type of Cd, I tried replacing the DvD reader but that did nothing. So now I have three 360's in my room... |

Your premise is that the 360 is the most popular console not whether or not people complain about the machine failing on the internet or not. The issue with the 360 isn't related to sheer superiority of numbers compared to everyone else. It doesn't even make sense when you consider just how small the difference really is between it's direct competitor, if the failure rates really were as close as you want to believe there would be a much louder contingent of people complaining that their PS3 broke than their are relative to the numbers of people complaining about 360's. Your own logic does not support your argument. |

My God how I get tired of PC players and their "master race" mentality. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2149 Joined: 25 Feb 2008 | The only Xbox of mine that broke was my original Xbox, not a 360, but after that one kicked it I got an Elite (it looks better, has more space and came in a good package). I've had it for 2, nearly 3 years now and no problems with it. If you a 360 get an Elite or that random Pro one. |

Use that tiny fanboy powered brain of yours. Type XBox failure rate in to Google and you'll get a good number of results from a huge selection of sources all of which point to a failure rate of around 16% give or take. That by anyone's standards is an excessively high failure rate for any product and in any professional's eyes would be an indicator of a significant design flaw. On the other hand a similar search of Wii and PS3 shows a failure rate of around 1%. |

My 360 is dying. Slowly but surely, I can sense her death is imminent. I do belive it is the disc reader. I've had it for 2 years, and she has never failed me in such a way before. Several of my freinds 360's are also dying,or have gone. I notice other people have mentioned recent 360 death. And I find myself wondering: is it the new dashboard software, re-injecting the dreaded 360 virus into the circuit-board veins of the Xbox's. Anyone else encountering problems or death? Or, failing that, have any advice on what to do? C'mon, help my theory so we can go shout at Microsoft for being ginormous tossers.
