However, I believe that had to do with bypassing the copy-protection rather than cheating as such. I don't remember the name, though... |

That's not really cheating. But if I remember that race correctly, it IS possible to skip a huge part of the race by dropping on a lower section, and that will not be detected. |

I saw a video of that exact technique and all I wanted to happen was for the penguin to jump down right after you and land on top of you, and refuse to move. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1493 Joined: 15 Jul 2008 | All mario Kart games since 64. Doesn't matter how far ahead you are. The better you do the more crap comes after you allowing everyone else to catch up. Also kinda sucks that u never get good items while in 1st place. I consider them possibly my best games skill wise. Nobody i know personally can beat me head to head. But sometimes the Ai can be sooo dammn cheap. |

When your in the torture room on the table Revoler Ocelot tells you not to try to use auto fire on a controller or he'll know and later when your fighting Pyscho Mantis you have to switch controller ports from 1 to 2 to get an egde on him after you beat him he knows you do it as well. Final Fantasy VII Spoiler ahead... When your on the Rocket in space you get a chance to get the Gaint Blue Materia that's in a container but Cid doesn't reminder the code but remembers clues at random if you've pieced them together or found out by other means that the code is... "Circle Sqaure X X" then he replies (Cid: You've done this before havn't you?) I know of a few others but they don't come to mind at the moment |

That's the only way of beating him, so technically not a cheat. :P |

For me, as I consider strategy guide usage a form of cheating (and I still use strategy guides myself, but using a guide or entering an invincibility code leaves the same taste in my mouth) An ironic response would be completing the level through following the instructions only to have the boss say: "No, I'm not doing that today." |

This is more a case of the computer cheating you for no reason, but i do remember that it infuriated me whenever Toad (and it was always Toad) would get like 50 speed boosts and cross the finish line... a millisecond before I did I could've understood if this happened because I cheated to make my "Kart" faster, but I don't think this was the game's fault. I think Toad was just being a dick. |

However, if you use the teleportation trick with the alcoves in the mountain, he doesn't seem to care. |

The End died in your game. It is a scripted event if you load a save a week after you start the battle with the End. You are going to have to either change the date on your PS2 or kill the Spetnaz.
You are required to switch controller ports no matter what you do at that point. I thought Psycho Mantis came before the torture sequence.
It's called a rubber band effect. The farther they get away from you, the faster they move. Burnout used a similar effect. OT: Grand Theft Auto would not let you get 100% completion if you used cheats. |

Paperboy Posts: 35 Joined: 8 Jan 2009 | I think I may have had that same thing happen to me on Super Mario 64. Or maybe my brother just told me about it. I think he got farther in the game than I did. I was little, so it's understandable. |

Then again, if you wanna speed up the game and get the bow before even going to the first dungeon and saving yourself 980 rupees, It's not a bad idea. |

incorrect, you can actually beat him without changing ports, the game knows if your low on ammo so it spawns boxs whenever you need them, it takes about 50 minutes to beat him though. Trick is to shoot wildly, if you take aim he'll dodge all bullets, shoot wildly around him and he'll dodge into a stray bullet. |

Also in Psyconauts when you put in a cheat the game yells YOU CHEATED at you. ^.^ |

Yeah, that happens in Links Awakening too. That was the first place I'd seen it. I actually found the cheat by accident as I didn't actually think I'd be able to walk out of the shop. I was actually running away from the chickens when I went back into the shop. It actually seemed kinda surreal at the time. User was banned for: Banning poems from schools in the UK. (Permanent) |

At one point Ocelot turns to the camera and says, |

yep, still not fighted him though, I hear it's a fun fight so i'm saving it till i'm good enough on hard mode to fight him.

while reminiscing about a time I played "Super mario 64" I remembered a part where you have to beat a big penguin in a race on a downward icy path, in order to get a star.
As far as the penguin is concerned, there is only one path. However for those who know, there is a section of the race where a wall is next to the track, the wall is completely solid except for one section of the wall, where you literally can go "through" the wall, which leads to a straight path to the finish line, guaranteeing the player a win. When the penguin finally crosses the finish line, he tells you that he knows you cheated. At that point you'd have to race him again and beat him legally if you wanted the star. When this happened I was genuinely shocked, and I never forgot that moment in gaming.
With this in mind I wondered, in which games and in what particular situation would the most interesting, ironic or even comedic, result be in response to a certain cheat?
Example: You're facing off with an enemy in his own castle, both of you are wielding swords. You decide to input a cheat that makes your sword larger, the enemy then calmly drops his own sword, and whistles. Immediately one of his servants run to him and hands him two (2) swords, both are larger than yours. Your enemy turns to you and says either "Now, where were we?" or, "Care to see what happens when you make your sword even bigger?"
Any other ideas?
