What Half life 2 zombies sound like... Backwards.

 Pages 1 2 NEXT

When you set zombies on fire in Half-life 2 on fire, they scream right. Apparently it's not the headcrab screaming. It's the guy they've taken over. If you haven't heard it before, backwards, then you'll know what i'm talking about when you watch it. Apparently backwards they're screaming "God help me! Help me!". See what I mean:

It's made me kinda freaked out. Especially as it's late at night.

It always makes me feel bad for the people that got..zombified...But then those lame poison headcrabs show up and all feelings of care are replaced with deep anger.

Same here. F^cking Poison Headcrab Zombie Mules...

Ohh... so that's what they say.
It's a bit late at night (as you said) to be hearing that though...

How do you know it's not the headcrabs? Maybe they have there own god. HAHA.

thats what you get for wearing a white shirt.

I do feel sorry for the headcrabbed, especially the guy you find the first time you meet zombies in HL2. Where he's trying to wrestle it off and all you can do is stand there and watch...
However the whining when you set them on fire is kindof annoying and I wish they'd shutup and die. Lol

It's not in reverse, that's what it sounds like in the game. I noticed it like the first time I played it.

Still, it's really creepy O.o it's one of the only things that makes me pause for a second before killing something in a game. Hard to believe that a game that isn't even close to the horror genre creeps me out more than games that are, huh?

It's ZOMBIES. They got their face eaten. Of course they're going to be screaming! No one cares about the zombies, anyway. Try doing interpretations of what the Combine say. Now that's an interesting thing to do.

That is how it always sounded to me, since I am playing the game right now.

However I don't feel sorry for them because of those fucking poison headcrabs, and the ones that rush you.

I guess because in other zombie games, they've already lost their humanity. In HL2, they're still alive, they're being eaten (presumably) by the headcrabs, and they have no control over their movements. hen a guy comes up and shoots them in the face or sets them on fire, again while they're alive.

You didn't know that? They're not saying it backwards. They're screaming "OH GOD" "Help meeee!" all the time, it's just garbled. You do realize... They're tecnically still alive? The Head Crabs subsumate their nervous system and rapidly mutate their body, leaving them in constant agony. Death is basically the only mercy you can provide them.

That's the same sound in Zombie Happy Fun Time. ^_^

I find it hilarious.

They scream "PLEASE KILL ME" when they're not on fire I think.. for some reason having a headcrab on your face makes you apeak backwards.

but they are not really zombies, just live people being controlled against there will. I think.

WAT

I thought they just wanted me to yabba their icing. At least THAT would have been a reasonable request.

That's what I thought, it makes me wish I still had Half Life 2 now, I want to replay Ravenholm.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about something he typed over a year ago.

And I won't either if that's when you decide to reply to this.

I noticed that when i played, it gives me more of a reason to kill them, out of mercy

Shotgun > Poison Headcrab Carriers. Just saying. :]

I could make out a few words during my gameplay, but this clears things up!

Interesting, Still they say even more then that, I do belive they say something along the lines of "I'm Burning", "Oh God, Why me?" "MY EYE'S STING GAAAAH"

Also, Apperantly raiseing the pitch can result in a normal sounding voice.

That must be the worst possible fate ever, being able to see what your doing, but not being able to stop yourself or say something without it coming out backwards or garbled. But still being able to feel pain.

I hate it when a fast zombie shows up behind you without any warning and pushes you off the building, and I nearly always land in either fire, in a massive group of zombies or within the range of that spinny thing that's an almost instant kill,

Sometimes I hear that, other times I hear the "God help me". Either way, I throw propane tanks at their heads.

OP should avoid System Shock 2 then.

Well I actually knew this for a long time. Do you really think no-one figured out it was reversed?

I came to know out of boredom; I found the zombie soundfile and listened to it, thinking "Huh, sounds like they reversed it." so I reversed it again with Audacity. Tadaa.

The free demo on Steam contains Ravenholm, otherwise you could just grab the game or the orange box fairly cheap.

For once the zombies made me feel sad when i burned them.

I always thought that when they burn, at one point they seem to say "I like me" xD

Wow, that IS creepy.

speaking of backwards... This is more creepy, imo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjeRCsoufII&feature=related
How they played it in: They made the actors say their lines backwards (instead of saying "Say" they said "Yas"... You catch my drift...) and then they played the voices backwards, making it the right way, but still very fucked up..

Sir Kemper:

Also, Apperantly raiseing the pitch can result in a normal sounding voice.

Yeah, it's even creepier when you raise the pitch and hear it in a normal voice.

That's how it sounds in-game...

Yeah, I've heard this already.

Still it's really, really creepy.

I loved Ravenholm because of these sounds, it's creepy atmosphere and because it was awesome.

I've already heard that one, although i'm pretty sure it's not reversed. It's just... well, horrifying, and i mean really. Then fast and poisonous zombies come alongg and GAAAAAAAH! Add the fact that i don't derive any enjoyment from being scared, and you have the reason why i rarely replay Half-Life 2.

How did you even manage to find this thread? And what's up with all the thread necromancy lately? First one about ACTA, now this...
