At the moment I'm running through Platinum with Skuntank, Empoleon, Gabite, Espeon, Togekiss and Machamp, but after I've beaten the Elite Four I'm going to probably make the following my competitive team for the Battle Frontier:
Fighting - Machamp Normal - Purugly Dark/Poison - Skuntank Fire/Flying - Charizard Electric - Ampharos Dragon/Ground - Garchomp
My squad is from the original 150, because truth be told i've never got any of the new pokemon on the new games past level 80 so my perfect squad was formed of -
pedal_pusher: Well, as an exclusivly first generation player, my elite where:
1. Dugtrio w/Earthquake, Rock Slide, Fissure and Hyper Beam 2. Zapdos w/ Thunder, Thundershock, Fly and Hyper Beam 3. Articuno w/ Blizzard, Ice Shot, Fly and Substitute
And yes they are listed in order of preference. Dugtrio would 1-hit most things and would ALWAYS get the first attack. If I came up against something really tough he could always go for fissure and cheap kill it. Zapdos is the perfect complement to his move set, between the two of them they could have an advantage over any tyoe in the game (barr ghost). Articuno I like since he's ice element which has few weaknesses.
As for the others... nothing really blow me away. I dappled with gyrados and seadra's which were good but not great. I'd use Venasaur for its sleep powder, but mostly the rest of my pokemon would just be HM mules.
EDIT
How could I have forgotten!
4.Golem w/Earthquake, Rock Slide, Fissure and Hyper Beam
Iron defence on the Golem was always a winner, just as long as I could rely on Zapdos to take out the water pokemon and articuno/zapdos to deal with grass/fighting he would crush anything!
Hi well I love Articuno he is one of my favourites because I love the Flying types, however the ice type are mainly offensive types as just to correct have many weaknesses compared to lets say a Dark or Steel type pokemon for super effective attacks plus Articuno is dual Flying type, which again combined make him even weaker to attacks. But that said he is very powerful as a legendary pokemon and I have used Articuno for many battles as an offensive pokemon. :p
Gengar, Ariados, Houndoom, Flygon, Feraligatr, and Tyranitar.
... Yeah, that sounds good. It may change with Black and White, though -- I kind of love the new Ghost/Fire chain. Probably replaces Tyranitar. Houndoom, Gengar, and Ariados are definites, and the other three can change. No they should probably not all be on the same team but they are still my favorites.
The team I'm currently running with in Soul Silver:
Feraligator Ampharos Crobat Mamoswine Slowpoke (Soon to be initiated into the brotherhood) Heracross
I didn't even plan this team out, I just caught whatever I thought was cool and I basically destroy everything I come across. My team was underleveled for the Dragon bitch Clair and I demolished her.
It's perpetually changing, but, as we speak, it's: Forretress, to lay down spikes, spin away hazards, then explode. Salamence, to intimidate, dragon dance, then pwn. Metagross, holding an occa berry. I use it to revenge-kill fire types. Gliscor, shiny, holding a lum berry, because I hate sleepers. Crobat, not originally mine. It's oddly bulky, and an excellent annoyer. And Starmie, my newest addition, and I must say, I love that pointy little guy.
Right now, I've put all but a few of my team in the PC and am going through a semi-starting over in Kanto. So far:
Charmeleon, lv. 17. Torchic, lv. 5. And the best of my party so far... Magikarp, lv. 40 Mr. Fish will lead us into greatness!
But my best team so far? Seeing as how they took out Red (nothing is greater than seeing that Pikachu go down from one good Psycho Cut)...
Mewtwo, lv. 70 (yeah, I'd just caught it) Rhydon, lv. ... 40 something I think, it got knocked out in one shot. Lugia, lv. 61 Typhlosion, lv. 55 Dragonair, lv. 49 Ho-oh, lv. 70/71 (it leveled up during the fight.)
I have Black, so here are my parties for every Pokemon game I've ever played...
1st gen: Rhydon, Alakazam, Venusaur, Pidgeot, Machoke, and Gyarados. 2nd gen: Typhlosion, Tyranitar, Fearow, Dragonite, Dewgong, and Machoke. I never played 3rd gen, but if I did, I would definitely have Flygon. 4th Gen: Bastiodon, Mismagius, Crawdaunt, Magnezone, Garchomp, and Lucario. 5th Gen (complete with levels and types)
Carracosta level 51 (rock/water)My Wall. Galvantula level 55 (bug/electric)Speed and Special attacks. Unfezant level 56 (flying/normal)Dodging damage. Krookodile level 57 (dark/ground)My powerhouse Hydreigon level 64 (dark/dragon) I needed this guy so freaking bad... He's my backup. Kyurem level 75 (dragon/ice) He's my trump card.
SPOILERS: I have not beaten Cynthia, or the Elite Four for the Second time, or Cheren for the last time. Why? Cheren has lvl 65-67 pokemon, all overpowered, and the Elite Four and Cynthia have 75+ pokemon. I have a LOT of training to do.
I have like 12 lv 100 because I have many pokemon team combination and I am still working on all the 5th gen pokemon I want to try out but latest would be: dusknoir excadrill blastoise tangrowth volcarona glavantula
Haven´t used 6 pokémon in my party since after Crystal, but anyways here´s my Diamond team where many are traded from previous games. - Meganium - Rapidash - Gardevior - Misdreavus - Rampardos - Absol

I can't remember my old awesome ones, but my current White lineup's pretty effective: 1) Galvantula 2) Krookodile 3) Serperior 4) Archeops 5) Darmanitan 6) Beartic
Went thought a few iterations, but now it seems to be both balanced and badass to me. Galvantulas and Archeopses are fucking awesome..
Tried to keep it first gen, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what my 6th was back then. I feel like it was probably Venusaur or Cloyster. Those were the other 2 I used fairly often. Sadly Cloyster is awful after first gen. Back then his ridiculous defense and good special stats made him basically unkillable.
From a technical viewpoint, it's either my Ruby team (Swarmpert, Gardivour, Arrgron, Ninjask, Pelipper and Mightyena) or my Heartgold team (Tyranitar, Noctowl, Scizor, Magmortar, Feraligatr and Ampharos). Those two teams are the most balances (not too many weaknesses) depite I favour my Diamond team the most (Infernape, Garchomp, Luxray, Honchkrow, Lucario and Gastrodon).
At the moment I'm running through Platinum with Skuntank, Empoleon, Gabite, Espeon, Togekiss and Machamp, but after I've beaten the Elite Four I'm going to probably make the following my competitive team for the Battle Frontier:
Fighting - Machamp
Normal - Purugly
Dark/Poison - Skuntank
Fire/Flying - Charizard
Electric - Ampharos
Dragon/Ground - Garchomp
