King's Quest IX: The Silver Lining

| 12 Dec 2005 09:48

If you, like me, were a fan of the Sierra adventure games, this might interest you. If you hadn't heard, when it was announced that there would be no new developments in the King's Quest series, fans took it upon themselves to develop a sequel. A good one too, from the way it was shaping up - if you're curious, take a look at the trailer. Of course, being as the license is owned by Vivendi Universal (who owns Sierra these days), you can probably guess what happened. The Cease & Desist shut the project down several months back.

The big surprise is that, after some negotiations, Vivendi has agreed to let development and release of the title continue. Here's to hoping they succeed, and perhaps bring a bit more energy to the ever-fading Adventure genre.
