July Sales Up 22% According to NPD

The NPD Group, a toys and games market research company, has revealed $386 million in game sales for July, up 22% from this time last year.

Although predictions from most publishers have warned that the transition to the next-generation of consoles would reduce sales, NPD revealed today that sales for July are up 22% from last year. Current generation software sales declined to $45.5 million while the DS Lite and Xbox 360 game sales have remained brisk.

Software sales-to-date for are up 2% compared to 2005, which was a record breaking period with over $10.5 billion in sales.
