Microsoft Details Cross-Platform Road Map

| 22 Aug 2006 16:01

At the Games Convention Developer Conference in Leipzig, Microsoft detailed plans for Xbox 360 and PC game convergence.

In Leipzig, Microsoft UK's third-party account manager Steven Blackburn revealed that by 2008, 3rd party publishers will be releasing titles that enable PC users playing against Xbox 360 users online. Currently scheduled to launch in early 2007, Shadowrun will be the first game to support this functionality. Blackburn claims that Fall of 2007 will see the first 3rd party game to support the feature with more to come the following year.

Details on exactly which games would support cross-platform online play were not forthcoming.
