Madden 2007 Breaks Sales Records

EA has announced that Madden NFL 07 has sold more than two million copies in its first week.

After only one week on the shelf, Madden NFL 07 has sold over $100 million dollars worth of product; roughly 12 percent more than last year over the same period. Releasing on nearly every game platform available, the new Xbox 360 version of the game is likely to have put the venerable franchise over the top. Microsoft added that over two million hours have been logged into playing football online in the first five days of availability.

In December of 2004, EA purchased the exclusive rights to create NFL licensed football games. While the price was never disclosed, estimates have been rumored at $300 to $500 million dollars.
