Nintendo Media Event Reveals More Japan Wii Details

| 12 Oct 2006 13:10

With translation by Gamasutra and Game-Science, new details have emerged on the Japanese launch of Nintendo's Wii's Online Services.

Revealing more details on their online service, similar to that of Microsoft's Xbox Live, Nintendo confirmed that some titles, described as "Wii Compact Software", would be available for download in Japan next spring. Nintendo also expects to have 60 classic Nintendo titles available by the end of 2006.

According to Gamasutra, "Pricing was also given for Wii points in Japan, with 1,000 points being exactly equivalent to ¥1,000 ($8.37). Prepaid cards will be made available in multiples of 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 points, with the latter coming bundled with a classic controller. Hardware prices were also given as ¥3,800 ($32) for a 512MB SD memory card and ¥2,800 ($23) for a wired LAN Adapter."

The Nintendo Wii launches in the United States on November 19, and in Japan on December 2.
