Oblivion Sweeps Golden Joystick Awards

Taking Overall Game of the Year as well as the big title in the PC and Xbox categories, Bethesda's widely praised Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was very well received at the 2006 Golden Joystick Awards.

The UK awards ceremony, organized by Future Publishing, was held late last week with winners announced in a number of sponsored categories. With over 540,000 votes cast for the event, Bethesda's Oblivion won the PLAY.com Ultimate Game of the Year, Xbox Game of the Year, and ebuyer.com PC Game of the Year.

Said Future Publishing's James Ashton-Tyler, "It's great to see that gamers have rewarded Elder Scrolls IV with three awards. The game represents a genuine advance for the role playing genre both in its structure and presentation. Its success at this year's Joysticks is just reward for the talented team responsible for its creation."

Nintendo Game of the Year - New Super Mario Brothers
bliss Girls Choice Award - Nintendogs
