Contra Coming To Xbox Live This Wednesday, More Games Announced

Microsoft has announced that the original Contra will be released on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday. They have also confirmed new titles for the service.

At 1AM PST, Contra will be released on Xbox Live Arcade for 400 Microsoft points ($5 US) in the marketplace. Claiming "enhanced artwork" with new bullet effects and explosions, the game will include 12 achievements and the classic cheat codes we all grew up with on the NES. The two player cooperative mode will support both local and online play.

Microsoft has also confirmed some classic Atari games and a few independent titles coming soon to Live. Centipede/Millipede, Battlezone, Asteroids/Asteroids Deluxe, Missile Command, Tempest and Warlords will all be enhanced and released starting in January of 2007. Other 3rd party titles such as Gastronaut Studios' Small Arms, Popcap's Heavy Weapon and Buena Vista's Novadrome were also mentioned.
