Left 4 Dead Announced

| 21 Nov 2006 14:12

Valve has announced a new co-operative multiplayer action game from the makers of Counter-Strike.

Using the "most advanced version of the Source Engine" and including version 2 of Turtle Rock's A.T technology, Left 4 Dead will be a four player co-operative game aimed at destroying the undead.

"By leveraging its industry-leading AI technology and years of Counter-Strike development experience, Turtle Rock is building upon the elements that make Counter-Strike successful and applying them to Left 4 Dead," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "What Counter-Strike did for multiplayer action games, Left 4 Dead will do for co-op games."

Turtle Rock is the developer behind a large number of original Counter-Strike games and maps. Left 4 Dead may be a total conversion similar to Zombie-Strike Source, a Counter-Strike mod that pits players against regenerating zombies armed only with knives.
