Napster Founder Looks To 'MySpace' for Azeroth

| 4 Dec 2006 08:38

Shawn Fanning, the founder of Napster, is looking to create a a new social site devoted to World of Warcraft.

Sometime in the near future, Fanning plans to launch "Rupture", a virtual social community for online gamers. Starting with World of Warcraft, the site will pull information directly from the game servers and publish player stats on custom user sites. Instant messaging, guild progress and raid scheduling will also be included on every page.

Fanning hopes to encourage gamers to exchange personal information about their "real lives" along with their latest exploits in Azeroth. A specific release date has not been announced for the new project.
