Microsoft to Offer IPTV on the 360

| 8 Jan 2007 16:32

According to the XBOX.com website, Microsoft will announce at CES that they intend to offer the IPTV edition of Microsoft TV on the XBOX 360.

In conjunction with this service will be digital video recording capability, movie viewing, and voice and video communications, which Microsoft is touting as being able to be used simultaneously, i.e. you can play a game on Xbox Live while downloading a TV program or talking to your friends.

This move might have been triggered due to the notable popularity of the Xbox's high definition content download service. This, coupled with the HD-DVD player add-on, illustrates Microsoft's interest in making the Xbox 360 as agile as any desktop computer when it comes to digital media access.
