Gears of War Sales Top 3 Million

Gears of War, the hottest-selling game this holiday season, went triple platinum, selling 3 million units in only 10 weeks.

Two weeks ago, free maps sponsored by The Discovery Channel were made available on Xbox Live Marketplace, and were downloaded 750,000 times. Downloads of all other content available for Gears of War on Xbox Live, including maps, themes and walkthroughs, reached 1.5 million in total.

Gears of War is shaping up to be one of the most successful intellectual properties of the next generation of games.
