New Gaming Platform Aims to Revolutionize Market

| 12 Feb 2007 16:37

Virgin Games and Game Domain International (GDI) announced the completion of their first tests on a new 3-D PC game "virtual world" platform called "A World Of My Own," or AWOMO.

The technology aims to revolutionize the current online distribution market by including much faster download speeds - turning hours to minutes, far greater security to combat rampant piracy and making it easier for the consumer to use.

Several games publishers have already pledged their support for the AWOMO technology: the Koch Media Group, which works with EA; Ubisoft; and Deep Silver witnessed the first demonstration of the new platform and are already in negotiations with GDI to prepare before the platform's official launch.

GDI plans to launch the AWOMO platform pre-stocked with a large library of titles available to download to meet expected demand.
