Sony Executive Confirms New PSP in Development

Sony Computer Entertainment director confirms a new Playstation Portable in the development.

While talking at the Sony's PSP in Education event, Sony Computer Entertainment UK managing director Ray Maguire told the audience, consisting of journalists and teachers that the Playstation portable is only on its "first iteration" and that a "smaller, lighter" system is being developed.

When contacted by GamesIndustry.biz, Maguire added that the PSP's wide screen would not be downsized. A Sony spokesperson clarified Maguire's remarks. "In the longest term, of course we are always looking at ways to continue our platform development, and this normal business practice is what Ray was referring to."
