Three Genesis Titles Come to Virtual Console

| 26 Mar 2007 14:39

Sega confirms that Alex Kidd, Virtua Fighter 2 and Wonder Boy will reach the Wii's Virtual Console.

Sega announced that Genesis titles Virtua Fighter 2, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and Wonder Boy in Monster World will be offered on Nintendo's Virtual Console for 800 Wii Points ($8) each. Virtua Fighter 2 brought 3-D fighting to the console arena with martial arts combat and eight unique characters. The fifth game in the Alex Kidd series, which was previously part of the Sega Genesis Collection on the PS2 and PSP, features hero Alex Kidd questing for his lost father, King Thor, on the planet Paperock. The final English Wonder Boy title puts players into a roleplaying world full of magic and traditional 16-bit combat.

SEGA of America Vice President of Marketing Scott A. Steinberg commented on the collection. "The Wii Shop Channel continues to be a great avenue for gamers who want instant access to classic SEGA Genesis titles. Virtua Fighter 2, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, and Wonder Boy in Monster World, are all great titles that were popular hits in their day and now have a second life via Wii's Virtual Console."
