Peter Molyneux Knighted in France

| 6 Apr 2007 14:06

France honors designer Peter Molyneux for his efforts in game development.

Lionhead lead designer Peter Molyneux was knighted by the French government on March 12. Minister of Culture Renard Donnedieu de Vabres bestowed Molyneux with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters), which recognizes him for his contributions to art and literature. Notable figures in the game industry, such as Michel Ancel (Beyond Good and Evil), Frederick Raynal (Alone in the Dark) and Shigeru Miyamoto (Super Mario Bros.), have also been offered the prestigious position.

Upon receiving his award, Molyneux gave a brief statement. "I am extremely proud to have received this honour and would like to thank the French Ministry of Culture for this recognition. I would also like to say that I see this as a credit for everyone at Lionhead Studios, all our games are a team effort. I am just the figurehead."
