Lost Planet to Find Its Way to PC

| 16 Apr 2007 14:23

Capcom's successful Xbox 360 behind-the-shoulder shooter will be reproduced on the PC.

The title will be a direct port with some added multiplayer maps, and it is likely to land on the desks of many PC users sporting the the latest generation of graphics hardware because of its DirectX 10 support. (DirectX 9 will be required.)

Gamespot's hands-on impression reveals that the title looks better than it does on the 360, in no small part because of its massive resolution capability:

Most notably, Lost Planet supports resolutions up to 2560x1600, so if you have a capable video card and monitor you can expect to see crisp, detailed effects on the PC that aren't possible on the Xbox 360. Lighting, shadows, and particle effects all show fairly significant improvement over the Xbox 360 version of the game, which already looked great to begin with.

The relatively swift turnaround on the game begs the question of whether other hit titles produced by the well-known publisher, including Dead Rising, will also make the platform leap.

Capcom is also pairing itself with NVIDIA, title in hand, for the latter's tour illustrating the capabilities of Geforce graphics processors.
