| 20 Apr 2007 20:59

Philippe Capron of steel manufacturer Arcelor follows Jacques Espinasse as Vivendi Chief Financial Officer.

Philippe Capron, previously of the steel company Arcelor, has been hired by publisher and developer Vivendi as its new Chief Financial Officer. After a brief stint as an executive vice president that started on January 1, Capron succeeds Jacques Espinasse on the management team.

Espinasse began planning his departure from an executive role over a year ago in order to devote his time to the role of independent director. Jacques Espinasse joined the company in 2002 and played a vital role in bringing the group to profitability. Vivendi's Supervisory and Management Boards thanked Espinasse for his tenure at the annual shareholder meeting held on April 19, which held a record number of 2,000 shareholders.
