New European Adventures Coming To North America

Lighthouse Interactive has partnered with German publisher dtp entertainment in a deal that will localize European-made adventure games for the North American market.

The process of localization involves the translation of text, as well as the removal and replacement of all distinctly European terminology in order to give the game a more American flavour. Currently, games slated for conversion include Sproing Interactive's World War Two spy-themed Undercover: Operation Wintersun, the conspiracy adventure Belief & Betrayal from Artematica, and the forthcoming psychological thriller Overclocked, due in 2008 from House of Tales.

English localization and adequate international distribution has increasingly been a problem for European publishers, due at least in part to the relatively moribund state of the adventure game market in North America. While there has been no official word whether future dtp entertainment titles, such as Gray Matter, So Blonde and Mata Hari, will be covered in the agreement, the deal is nonetheless a significant step forward for the German publisher.
