Nielsen Ratings Now on Sony Consoles

| 3 Jul 2007 14:10

Sony Computer Entertainment America has signed a deal with the media ratings Firm The Nielson Company to track ever-growing in-game advertisements on Sony consoles.

According to the deal's provisions, the firm will analyze traffic data on the PS3 using online tools to calculate the reach and effectiveness of online game advertising.

As part of the company's GamePlay Metrics project, the data will be combined with its other ratings measures.

"By marrying SCEA's server-side data traffic with our standard ratings metrics, we will be able to provide advertisers with a much more robust picture of the impact of their game network advertising and of those consumers who are actually playing games, all while preserving consumer privacy," said Nielsen Games Vice President Jeff Hermann.
