Sierra Announces New Additions to F.E.A.R. Franchise

Sierra Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of two new titles in the F.E.A.R franchise, F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate, and F.E.A.R. Files.

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate is the second expansion pack for the PC, following F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. The new addition to the franchise will actually be set in a story that runs parallel to the events at Armacham, as the player takes the role of a different soldier in the F.E.A.R. unit, battling new enemies that the original team didn't encounter.

F.E.A.R. Files, for the Xbox 360 console, will include the Perseus Mandate campaign, as well as its predecessor F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. Extraction Point, which takes place immediately following the events of the original F.E.A.R. title, puts the player in the role of prey, hunted by the newly-free Alma and the powerful forces under her control.

The changes in the F.E.A.R. setting and characters are the result of a unique situation brought about by a conflict between developer Monolith and the original F.E.A.R. publisher Vivendi, parent company of Sierra Entertainment. Monolith, now partnered with publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, owns the F.E.A.R. "universe," while Vivendi still holds the rights to the F.E.A.R. name: thus, Vivendi can produce a new F.E.A.R. title, but cannot use Rowdy Betters, Spen Jankowski, Jin Sun-Kwon, or the rest of the original cast.

Both F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate and F.E.A.R. Files are slated for release this fall. More information and updates are available at www.whatisfear.com.
