Commodore Returning to North America

Commodore Gaming has announced it will be opening a North American headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, with the company's North American division being led by ex-Electronic Arts man Bill Sims.

Sims, formerly a regional sales manager at EA, will hold the title of Vice-President of North American Sales. "Bill Sims knows the industry like no one else and we are extremely proud to have him join our family," said Commodore Gaming CEO Bala Keilman. "His unparalleled experience in the gaming industry will enable Commodore to win in a market where we are the clear price/performance leaders.

"Commodore Gaming will now be able to ensure North American customers get the same level of quality and service that has been offered overseas. By opening a U.S. office we can better serve the country where the original Commodore was born and show our commitment to bringing the fastest and most beautiful computers available to the U.S."

The Commodore name is held by Netherlands-based Yeahronimo Media Ventures, which purchased the brand in 2005. Earlier this year the company launched Commodore Gaming, specializing in high-end gaming PCs available exclusively online, with plans for a retail launch in the future. As a tribute to the brand's storied history, the Commodore Gaming PCs come with a Commodore 64 emulator pre-installed.
