Nintendo Marketing Head Announces Departure

| 14 Sep 2007 19:31

Nintendo's marketing chief in its American division has officially announced he is leaving the company after a 15-year run.

"I have confirmed to all employees that I will be leaving at the end of December and not making the move to California," George Harrison told Reuters by telephone.

The announcement was not entirely unanticipated. After a company decision in June to relocate marketing and sales employees to the east and west coast financial capitals - New York and San Francisco - it was widely rumored that a fair chunk of existing staff would leave.

Harrison has not announced future plans but is unlikely to have much difficulty in the field. The company has had resounding success with its Wii console and DS portable hand-held, surpassing rivals Microsoft and Sony.
