Electronic Arts purchases PlayLinc and software developer Super Computer International.

Electronic Arts announced the acquisition of Atlanta-based Super Computer International (SCI), the creator of PlayLinc. PlayLinc is an online game browsing and messaging platform offered by Verizon that includes social networking tools like instant message, VoIP chat, buddy tracking, player invitations and team management. SCI's technology and development team will merge into EA's Online Technology Group. Jesper Jensen, SCI Chief Executive Officer, will continue to lead the project, reporting to Nanea Reeves, EA Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Online.

"SCI's development expertise is uniquely suited to our online technology needs. The team's technical leadership and creative approach is a great fit, and we're thrilled to have them join EA," said Reeves.
