Mass Effect Goes Gold

BioWare has announced that the highly-anticipated Mass Effect has gone gold, and unveiled details of both a limited collector's edition and an exclusive pre-order disk.

The collector's edition of the game will a 36-page "Galactic Codex: Essentials," a guide to the universe including a Citadel timeline, information on non-human races, biotics and important locations in the Perseus arm of the galaxy, as well as a separate concept art book and a bonus DVD including numerous documentaries on Mass Effect and BioWare, images, dashboard themes, trailers, ten songs from the soundtrack, demos for other games and more.

Customers who pre-order Mass Effect from participating retailers will also get a bonus DVD which will contain a short introductory documentary, pictures, dashboard themes, three musical tracks and the game demos.

Mass Effect is rated M (Mature) and is expected to retail for $59.99 for the standard version and $69.99 for the collector's edition. The game ships on November 20, exclusively for the Xbox 360.
