Sony Unit Sales Spike Dramatically

| 29 Nov 2007 15:10

North American PS3 sales saw a huge holiday boost, according to Sony.

The company has said the console sold 245 percent more units for the week of November 18 to 24 than the week prior.

It has also claimed that in the time frame of the 40 GB version's release, hardware sales have spiked almost 300 percent.

Sony however did not provide hard sales figures, though Gamespot extrapolates a total of 321,750 PS3s sold by Black Friday for the month, assuming the percentages are correct.

No corresponding information about unit trends for the 360 has yet been presented by Microsoft for comparison.

Nintendo has weighed in, however, claiming a total of more than 1 million units sold in the Thanksgiving week period.
