Sierra Selects BigWorld Technology for Online Game Partnership

Sierra Online has announced it will be using the BigWorld Technology Suite middleware in an upcoming online PC game targeting a mass-market audience.

Gavin Longhurst, vice president of business development at Bigworld Technology, said, "We look forward to working with Sierra Online to develop a title that holds wide appeal for gamers. The demand for online games is increasing and the Big World Suite assists developers in rapid prototyping, providing a powerful development environment that allows the production team to focus on building online worlds that continue to exceed the expectations of gamers."

"BigWorld's powerful online middleware Technology Suite will provide the flexibility to develop an upcoming online game that will take the gameplay experience to the next level of functionality and sophistication."

The BigWorld Technology Suite, advertised as "the only complete MMOG solution," is comprised of a package of technology required for next-generation MMOG and virtual world development, including BigWorld Server Software, Content Creation Pipeline, 3D Client Engine Package and Live Management Tools & Instrumentation.
