Funcom has announced another delay in its alleged MMOG Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which the company claims will allow it "to deliver a more polished MMO experience."

The game has been pushed back two months to a new ship date of May 20, despite Funcom's claim that it has received "great feedback on vital aspects like immersion, fun factor and the exciting combat system." The eight-week delay will be used to stress the game systems and provide additional polish. According to the announcement, Funcom has great faith in the game and believes the extra development time is in the best interests of gamers.

"The companies standing apart in the gaming market today are those with a relentless drive to achieve quality," said Age of Conan Producer Gaute Godager. "Even though we regret delaying the launch, I am certain we made the right choice. I hope that our followers and fans will support our decision, and respect our commitment to quality."

The announcement marks the latest in a series of delayed ship dates that have plagued Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which had originally been scheduled for release on March 25, 2007. The game's ongoing beta test period will continue through the postponement.
