2K Boston Director Unfazed by Takeover Talk

| 27 Feb 2008 17:47

EA's announcement of takeover intentions for Take-Two hasn't fazed Ken Levine, creative director of 2K Boston, which is owned by Take-Two.

"If the people with the money don't realize that the people with the talent are critical to what they do, then the people with the talent will go elsewhere," Levine said.

He added that a good game can be milked for a sequel by a mediocre team but that the creation of good IPs on a sustainable basis depended on talented staff:

"You can do a game, but if you don't have the talent - maybe you'll sell a lot of a sequel or something, but you need the talent to keep it going.

"The question is, are you building up the brand or are you damaging the brand? You have to be very careful with brands."

2k Boston was responsible for the shooter and role-playing game hybrid, BioShock.
