PlayStation Store Sees Overhaul

| 16 Apr 2008 14:08

Sony launched its new PlayStation store, bringing its interface up to par with that of its direct competitor.

The new interface has been sheared of the web-based design in favor of a software-driven iteration that eschews clunky page transitions.

The front page, previously adorned with icons, has given way to a button and picture scheme with content separated into sections and then layered into subsections.

The store now also acts as a conduit for the PSP previously available only via the PC version of the store.

Perhaps because of heavy traffic, though, users have found thumbnails slow to load, and have noted that images don't seem to cache beyond the session.

The store was launched concurrently with the latest PS3 firmware update.
